Hi there,
the issues with the LayerSlider not showing the saved styles has not been resolved after the update to Enfold 3.5.1. Also duplicating the sliders does not help, yet the frontend versions look ok, just not in the LayerSlider backend.
We started this topic already earlier, please see this here: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/advanced-layerslider-5-6-2-lost-styles-in-enfold-3-4-7-and-cannot-save-styles/page/2/#post-598903
Please advise – thanks!
Daniel
March 28, 2016 at 8:37 am #603899Hi Daniel!
We tested on our installation and the duplicating works fine and all content inside the slider show correctly.
When you click on Layer Slider on the left do you see “You have version 5.6.3 installed” ?
We need to take a closer look at the save styles issue please create a temporary user with ‘administrator’ role and share in private content with permission to deactivate all plugins and add custom code if necessary to help you resolve this issue.
Regards,
VinayMarch 28, 2016 at 4:24 pm #603915Hi Vinay,
yes, I can see the version 5.6.3 installed message. We have updated both, the theme and the layerslider plugin.Let’s see, if you can find more.
March 28, 2016 at 9:07 pm #604058Hey!
I have reported this issue again to Kriesi. I think he needs some more time to fix it. Thanks for being patient with us.
Best regards,
AndyMarch 29, 2016 at 8:59 am #604307Ok, thanks, Andy. Will wait for the next steps. Please keep me/us in the loop.
March 29, 2016 at 11:09 am #604360Hi!
so I talked to Kriesi again. I think it’s not clear to us what exactly is not working for you. Can you be very specific please? in your first post you say that it’s working in frontend, but not in backend? what do you mean exactly by this? are you talking about the preview? which is not showing any custom css for one specific slide? or are you talking about the CSS Editor in “LayerSlider WP->CSS Editor” which is not working for you?
Best regards,
AndyMarch 29, 2016 at 11:46 am #604382Hi Andy,
ok.How it should be:
In the backend of the LayerSlider we can see the settings for styles of the sliders and can also use the preview (see image)
The frontend is rendered accordingly.
The problem:
After the update (we updated the theme and the LayerSlider plugin) the settings for the styles of the sliders in the LayerSlider backend are empty. The frontend is still rendered correctly, but we cannot see the settings anymore and the preview of the slider (see image). Even duplicating does not resolve the issue. Also not changing any seetings and saving them. So the information about the settings are obviously there, which is why the frontend is rendered correctly, but it does not show the existing settings in the backend. The CSS field seems to work without a problem.I hope it is understandable :) Please let me know, if you need more information.

March 29, 2016 at 11:51 am #604389Hey!
unfortunately the screenshots are not viewable. Can you check please? use imgur.com or dropbox.
Best regards,
AndyMarch 29, 2016 at 11:53 am #604393Just replaced the imgur links. SHoudl work now.
March 29, 2016 at 12:02 pm #604399Hi!
thanks.
I checked your LayerSlider “Homepage Slider copy” and preview is working as expected. I can also see the styles you have used for the layers:So it seems to work as expected for me and I can’t see any issue. Please clear browser cache and hard refresh a few times.
Cheers!
AndyMarch 29, 2016 at 12:22 pm #604419Please check the slider in the backend and in the frontend (see private information)
The following fields of the settings should not be empty:
– Layout & Positions Width 600
– all the padding settings
– font: family: “Montserrat”,sans-serif – size 34px – line height 38px, color: #EB262B
– Misc: background: #ffffff, word-wrap: onAgain: The problem is that the old/existing settings are still not shown in the backend (see screenshots from earlier post) and the preview of the slider also does not work.
So it is not working as expected, as you should be able to see the “old” settings!
Emptied browser cache – no change. We also were able to replicate the issue on several computers and different browsers.
March 29, 2016 at 12:49 pm #604449Hi!
that’s weird. Are you saying that only some of your styles are shown and others not? because TOP and LEFT values are showing fine, as well as custom CSS.
Maybe your provider is using any kind of caching on your server? please ask your host about it.Your preview is working fine for me:
Best regards,
AndyMarch 29, 2016 at 1:05 pm #604469Yes, it seems that just the top and left values are shown, the rest is empty.
And the preview does not show the actual style changes, like font size and background color etc. :
This error was there also with the update to 3.4.7 of the theme (see link to the forum post on the very top). It seems that we are not the only ones that have this kind of error.
March 30, 2016 at 11:32 am #605081Hi!
let’s solve these issues one by one please and let’s make sure we are talking about the same thing.
1.) I checked your LayerSlider’s custom CSS field in your backend and it’s working as expected for me, as I can see changes of it immediately in preview mode.Without additional CSS code:
With some additional CSS code (display: none):
So preview mode is working as expected for me. Can you confirm this please?
Cheers!
AndyMarch 30, 2016 at 12:29 pm #605106Hi Andy,
the issue is not the additional CSS field. This seems to work – agree.
The preview is still wrong, as there should be for the title, description and category layers a different font size, font-family and background colors etc. So the preview (“Enter preview” button) is not rendered correctly.
This is how it should look like when you are working with the layers and also when you click the “enter preview button”. This is how it always was when we worked with the LayerSlider.Best,
DanielMarch 30, 2016 at 12:46 pm #605116Hi!
but why not just add the font-size etc. in question inside the fields? when I try to add for example “6px” as font-size, then it’s working as expected, as changes are showing fine in preview mode.
We need to be able to reproduce an issue on our own installation to be able to help, otherwise we can’t do much. Saying it should show a different value, although there is no value at all inside of the field, does not really help us. Simply put any value you need inside of it and it should work fine.Best regards,
AndyMarch 30, 2016 at 1:02 pm #605127This is exactly the problem!!! The settings in the fields are gone from our existing sliders, this is why they are empty. They shouldn’t be empty. There should be plenty of settings, but we cannot see them anymore, they seem to be gone.
Before the upgrade, we had all the settings there and now they are gone.
And the interesting thing is: that the sliders are shown correctly in the pages, where we use the slider. But all settings seem to be lost and we cannot work with it anymore, because we change it content various times per week.
To summarize it:
– existing settings are not shown in the backend
– preview does not work for existing sliders
– but: the sliders are rendered correctly on the pages, where we use them
– it wasn’t like this before the upgrade to the latest Enfold and LayerSlider versionDo you understand the issue we have?
March 30, 2016 at 7:06 pm #605380Hey!
did you import/export your page to a different domain or did you move any WordPress files? Are you using any kind of caching? Please ask your host if they are using caching on your server. Make sure to purge and deactivate it.
We can’t see that you have lost any styles and we can’t reproduce the issue on our installation. Try to install a backed up version, to see if things get better for you again.
I deactivated all your plugins and now I can’t activate them again anymore. Seems that something is wrong with either your WP installation or with any theme files. As there might be some corrupted theme files please delete all theme files completely via FTP, before installing a fresh copy from your themeforest account: http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/install-enfold-over-ftp/

AndyMarch 30, 2016 at 7:27 pm #605397Hi Andy,
did you import/export your page to a different domain or did you move any WordPress files?
–> no, we just updated the theme and the LayerSlider plugin on this installation, no change in the domainsAre you using any kind of caching? Please ask your host if they are using caching on your server. Make sure to purge and deactivate it.
–> You are repeating yourself. NO, we do not use caching. We can’t see that you have lost any styles and we can’t reproduce the issue on our installation. Try to install a backed up version, to see if things get better for you again.
–> already rolled back updates and uses backups, because of this issueI deactivated all your plugins and now I can’t activate them again anymore. Seems that something is wrong with either your WP installation or with any theme files.
–> I was able to activate them again with the login I provided – there was no problem to do so.I am usually really happy about the way you guys solve he problems, but you ask the same questions again that I have already answered before. I know that it is difficult to find the problem, but that is why I ask for your help.
For already existing sliders the settings are not shown in the backend after the update. The issue happened also to others before and was not resolved. Kriesi said, that it should be fixed, but it is NOT : https://kriesi.at/support/topic/advanced-layerslider-5-6-2-lost-styles-in-enfold-3-4-7-and-cannot-save-styles/page/2/#post-598903
I appreciate your help, Andy, but could you please also tag Kriesi or Dude?
March 30, 2016 at 8:15 pm #605426Hey!
this one was about a different issue. It was about any new styles you put into LayerSlider’s (CSS) styles, which did not apply/save. And this issue is resolved now, as it’s working, even on your installation.
So please simply put your values inside the fields again and it should work fine.Cheers!
AndyMarch 30, 2016 at 8:45 pm #605461We are talking about 3-5 sliders with each around 5-8 slides and various layers: more than 100 layer settings!
Even importing the slider from our working live system (with 3.4.7) did not work and the issue with the missing settings still exists.
It cannot be in your interest that after a theme update the existing settings of plugins that are distributed with it are not working correctly anymore. And we excluded the usual error sources together step by step (caching, no domain change etc.)
You guys are the developers and there must be a way that you can figure out, why the settings are gone. Did really none of your debug tools or maybe logfiles give you any other hint? Checking your support forum regularly, this would be the first time that you could not find a solution or the error source or even narrow it down after getting system access and a detailed issue description.
And it all worked before with 3.4.7 …. same server, same plugins …
So please consider having a look again.
Thanks!
DanielMarch 31, 2016 at 5:37 pm #606085Hey!
can you show us that it worked with 3.4.7 for you? Try to switch back using a backup and send us some screenshots which show all 100 settings. Would be even better if you let us know when you are ready, so we can log in and have a look by ourselves. Then we can see if and how we could fix it.
Cheers!
AndyApril 1, 2016 at 10:30 am #606570Hi Andy,
Thank you very much for your patience with this issue. I thought it was easier to send you a short screencast (see private content) to show you the problem on our live system. We are using Enfold 3.3.2, not 3.4.7 – my bad in the previous post. Last time we tried to update to Enfold (I think it was the 3.4.7 version), we had the same issue with the LayerSlider and had to roll back a backup.
Please have a look and let me know what you think.
Thanks & best regards,
DanielApril 3, 2016 at 5:39 am #607116Hey!
Thank you for the video. We don’t develop the plugin so we can’t say for sure why the values are missing. What happens if you import the slider from the old version to the new version? Have you tried that?
Best regards,
IsmaelApril 3, 2016 at 7:34 pm #607256Hi Ismael,
yes, we tried that. When we import the sliders from the working live version, we also do not see the settings.
You are using local installations, right? What happens, if you import our sliders into your local installations (see private link)?
Best regards,
DanielApril 7, 2016 at 7:38 am #609397Hi!
I’m afraid that you will have to re-add the values manually. Make sure to update the theme every time a new patch is available.
Cheers!
IsmaelApril 7, 2016 at 10:29 am #609469Oh man … But thanks for your help, Andy & Ismael.
Is it possible to download older releases of the theme, so that we can continue to find a solution around the manual re-adding?
April 7, 2016 at 11:38 am #609490Hey!
unfortunately not. In your case I would use a backup, then save the (backed up) theme files, so you will have those theme files always available.
Regards,
AndyApril 7, 2016 at 12:52 pm #609549Alright.
Thanks again for staying with me during this really long thread! I really appreciate it! If we should find a solution, I would open a new thread.
Thanks again!
DanielApril 7, 2016 at 1:10 pm #609574Hey!
alright, you are welcome. Yeah, let us know in a new thread, so I will close this for now. Thanks!
