I am using a color section with a Youtube video background and have checked the box to disable for mobile browsers.
If it is disabled, and if I do not set a background image, on mobile you see the stopped video with a red “play” symbol. But if you press this play button, it does not respond and the video does not play. I have repeatedly pushed the red play button and it does not respond on mobile.

Instead of a static background image on mobile, is it possible to display the video thumbnail with the red play button that then starts the video if the mobile user decides to watch the video?

    Thanks

    Hi goldengate415!

Please share the link to your page where we can inspect the element in question. We may also need access to see the elements in backend please create a temporary user with ‘administrator’ role and share in private content with permission to deactivate all plugins and add custom code if necessary to help you resolve this issue.

    Hi Vinay,
    Thank you for your response.

Now this morning Enfold’s behavior has changed — is it possible some coding change happened over the evening?

This is the page I created for you to see the “red arrow” but now if there’s no background image displayed, nothing is shown.

What I would like it to do is give the mobile user the option of watching the Youtube video. How do I do that?

    Thanks
    Rob

This is a sample page illustrating the issue with color background and mobile video. If you select a youtube video as a background and don’t specify an image background, the mobile browser displays a still photo of the video with a red “play” icon but the icon does NOT play the Youtube video.

    Hey!

can you try use revisions and get the page a version back, to see if something has been changed and how it can be fixed?

    Best regards,

Actually, the problem still exists on the above link even without going back in revisions….

The problem is that the youtube video link / thumbnail does not display on mobile, allowing a mobile user to click the link or the thumbnail and see the Youtube video.

Please go to the above link on your mobile device and all you see is blank space, not an option to click to view the youtube video.

Is this a bug or a feature request or user error?

    Thanks

Any final comment on this? I need to push a new version to the staging website which would wipe out the above page I created for Vinay…thanks

    Hi!

We copied the short code you provided and tested in our installation the background video URL is empty. Please add the youtube video url in the same format as the example it should work fine. and don’t forget to set the height of color section to min 100% under “Section layout” options

Here is the new shortcode with the background video works on mobile devices :)

    [av_section min_height='100' min_height_px='500px' padding='no-padding' shadow='no-border-styling' bottom_border='no-border-styling' id='' color='main_color' custom_bg='' src='' attachment='' attachment_size='' attach='scroll' position='top left' repeat='no-repeat' video='https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwmSFDA8jm8' video_ratio='16:9' overlay_opacity='0.5' overlay_color='' overlay_pattern='' overlay_custom_pattern='' custom_class='']
    [av_textblock size='' font_color='' color='']

One more question.. is there a way this can work not as a full screen video but just as a strip say 300 pixels high? I have tried modifying the code with lower pixels but it seems to default to full screen?

    Thanks!

    Hey!

please open a new ticket for a new question. Can you provide us a link to your site showing the elements in question please? we need to be able to inspect the elements. Which element are you using for your video?

    Best regards,
    Andy
