    Hi,
not sure if this issue is caused by Enfold, but it only appears in the slider.
The first of the images in the slider on http://www.hi-flyfoto.de shows a frayed edge between the upper white part and the sky, see the photo below:
    http://i1.wp.com/hi-flyfoto.de/wp-content/uploads/Media/Slide/Koeln-Rhein-Panorama-Drohne-Luftaufnahme.jpg?resize=1100%2C517

It is especially visible on the left of the copter between the white and blue sky.
Looking directly at the image shows no artifacts:
    http://i1.wp.com/hi-flyfoto.de/wp-content/uploads/Media/Slide/Koeln-Rhein-Panorama-Drohne-Luftaufnahme.jpg

It is also the correct width for the slider (1100px), so it is not, or should not be, resized (or maybe it is?).
I have deleted and uploaded this again, reduced compression, worked on the edge in Photoshop
so it is pixel perfect, to no avail. Using a PNG image works fine, but that is far too large.
So it appears to be a JPG artifact that only shows in the slider.
Other images in the slider do not show this phenomenon. I am really baffled
    Any ideas appreciated
    Thanks
    Michael

    Hi mleonhard!

Is it the shadow quality you are talking about?

Please produce a High Quality PNG image then compress it on https://tinypng.com/ and upload to your wordpress site.

    Hi Vinay,
this is the edge I mean when viewed in the slider
    http://hi-flyfoto.de/wp-content/uploads/bad_edge.jpg
And here is this region of the same image in the media library
    http://hi-flyfoto.de/wp-content/uploads/good_edge.jpg
I know this is not a major issue (most visitors probably won’t notice),
but it is strange and a little bit annoying.

    Thanks
    Michael

    Hey!

I know it is… That’s why i prefer using high quality compressed PNG images. Did you try the previous solution ?

    Cheers!

    Hi,
Yes PNG does not show this artifact. The compressed file is 238KB, compared to 175KB JPG.
Especially since it is the first image to be seen, I try to keep the size down,
It is probably more important to have a quick page build-up than to avoid this small error.
Still, I wonder if there is an explanation for this frayed edge, as it is seen only in the slider.
    Thanks

    Hi!

I can’t see any issues. Checked your page and all the images you have provided.

Does this happen when activating a default WordPress theme as well?

    Best regards,
    Andy

    Hi Andy,

you do not see a frayed edge like this?
    http://i2.wp.com/hi-flyfoto.de/wp-content/uploads/bad_edge.jpg
    as compared to this?
    http://hi-flyfoto.de/wp-content/uploads/good_edge.jpg
I know this is not a huge difference.
This only appears in the slider, so it would not be seen with a standard theme.
It also does not appear, if you view the image directly

    Thanks

    Hi!

It’s a limitation with the way the JPG renders the semi transparent pixels. PNG is specifically designed to handle these pixels better but it’s a bit heavy on the bandwidth. You can optimize PNG to some extent using photoshop or sites like tiny PNG.

In the end the choice is yours to choose between speed and quality.
If it is not too noticeable I would go for speed :)

    Absolutely, I prefer speed too!
It is just a weird thing. Only one image shows the issue, and only when viewed in the slider.

    Hi!

When i visit your site the jagged edges are not visible any more it looks good on my end.
Please try to clear the cache and refresh the page.

    Hi
Interesting information, looks like it is related to the browser.
Chrome and Opera are ok. Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari are not (current versions of the browsers an cache cleared).
    However…
I disabled all the plugins (did not think before the error could lie there) and found out that the Photon feature of Jetpack is the culprit.
And looking closely at the images, I find the quality is noticeably worse.
So let’s consider this solved here. I may have to annoy someone else about this (or maybe not).
    Thanks for all your effort.

    Hey!

Yeah! din’t really think it could be because of a plugin… but glad you found that out :)
