    Okay, I admit, I want my cake and eat it too.

    I would LIKE to be able to use the “horizontal panel” effect created with the Color Block (ColorBlock) element, as you see on this landing page:

    Using Enfold’s Advanced Layout Builder (ALB), this makes developing a page easy and clean and wonderful.

    Because of the Color Block, I can put different backgrounds on each “horizontal panel” easily — and it gives a little visual separation to slightly different concepts. Neat.

    However, when the landing page was almost completed, I realized that one action — subscribe to receive investigative tools info — is on the bottom only.

    According to Landing Page Lore, that “click” should be available on entire page.

    So what I NEED to do is to take my color block “panels” and put a sidebar beside them.

    I read that Enfold’s wonderful full-width colorblocks will push the sidebar to the bottom…obviously not what I want…that’s where my offer and subscribe are right now! I want them BESIDE the ColorBlock material.

    But…if I use Layout 1/4, 1/2, and then another 1/4 for info that WOULD be in the sidebar, I see that the first text column gets very long. (That would be the column starting with “You know the drill.”

    That unattractive vertical length for the textobx is very UNlike a sidebar — which would run vertically along both images and textblocks — the sidebar information would be BESIDE them but not interfere with their spacing.

    A 1/4 column on the right will be as vertically long as the information requires, pushing my second image and second block of copy DOWN.

    Intent: I want top two image/textblock pieces to be as far above the fold as possible. Putting “sidebar info” into a COLUMN moves the second image/textblock piece WAAAY below the fold.

    Another issue also arises…with normal columns, how can I make entire “bands” or horizontal color that imitate colorblock backgrounds? I.E. color all the way across.

    Should I create a custom template in WordPress? (Please say “No!”) Hate to do that with all that wonderful ALB goodness at our fingertips!

    Sorry, got sidetracked.

    Page currently same as it was. Now, I need to ask some questions before I attack it!

    Assessment:

    1. If I use Color Block, I can place items inside that Color Block, set a background image — and I will get all the items within it against a “stripe” of background. I.E., I get a horizontal area all with the same continuous image background that is full-width on the page.
    However, I don’t get a sidebar.

    2. I want to create a “background stripe” with various items on it — WITH a sidebar.

    3. I cannot use Grid Row, either — it’s full width (thought of this as way to get a “background stripe” effect, too.

    4. If I use standard Layout Elements like 1/2, 1/3, etc. I can color the Text Blocks with a “background” — but not necessarily the space BETWEEN the Text Blocks — which I want — to create that continuous “background stripe effect.”
    ALSO… adding background to individual elements (and space BETWEEN them) MIGHT only work well with colors, not images as a more “continuous” background.

    Can you give me a clue what approach I should take to show you a page to play with?

    You have my reasoning above, but there is no clear “winner” I can see. Any ideas on how to use the ALB to achieve this effect?

    Hi!

    1. The color section is a fullwidth element and pushes the sidebar down – this is the standard behaviour. If you want to have a sidebar above, you must use a 1/1 layout element with a widget content element.

    2. please create a mockup and share with us so we can help you better.

    3. To achieve background strip effect you can add a background image to color section.

    4. As i understand you like to have a different background for the elements in a color section.
    You can achieve this using the below css

    First you have to turn on custom class support for ALB elements

    Then add a custom class to the color section and target the container background color which holds all the elements.
