Blog article element: pagination not working

I cannot seem to get the pagination working for the blog element on my site. The pagination shows up, the navigation also seems to work – the number of the page I select will highlight – but the indexing seems to be stuck on page one, no matter what page number I select.

Any thoughts as to why and how I might be able to fix this?
