    Hi there,

I know there are some good plugins (backupwordpress) to backup wordpress/enfold, but if I do that via ftp what exactly do I have to backup?

Am I right if I drag and drop ht_docs (wp-admin, wp-content, wp-includes) via filezilla to my pc? Secondly, I always exported the “enfold file settings”. Is that how it should work with these two steps?

    Thanks a lot in advance

    Hi greengraphicsvienna!

You can backup wp-content/uploads folder and wp-content/themes/enfold folder and to export your database, please use a plugin such as this one – https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-migrate-db/

    Cheers!

    Hey Yigit,

thanks a lot! So the plugin you mentioned ist a plugin to backup my whole data? Is the way I did the wrong way?

What do you think about this plugin?

Is it on balance the same like the one you mentioned?

    Thanks a lot!!

    Hey!

The plugin Yigit mentioned is used to export your sites’s database, you’d still need to do the FTP thing if you want to transfer it to another place. If you only want to do backups i’d suggest you trying the plugin you mentioned.

    Cheers!

    Hi Josue,

thanks for your response! Firstly, i recognized that my link isnt visible. I ment this plug in
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/backupwordpress/

Second, so whats the difference between Yigits option and the plugin mentioned above? With Yigits option I save it on my PC and with the plugin I dont save it on my PC, right!? So is it right to save these three files to my PC? (wp-admin, wp-content, wp-includes)
Is it generally necessary to save it to my PC or is the plug in I mentioned the best and simplest way?

Is my mentioned plugin enough if I want to move to another server oder restore the theme if it is broken or lost!?

Sorry if I still dont get it :)

    Thanks a lot

    Hey!

I can’t speak for that plugin you mention because i have not used it, but regarding WP Migrate DB it does save a file on your PC but just the database information (so themes, plugins and uploads would need to be handled separately), a file that would later be injected in another DB.

    Hi,

ok thanks! So, if I use WP Migrate DB I also have to save themes, plugins, uploads via ftp on my PC, right?

What is the easiest way to save the important data? If the system is broken or we change the host it would be no problem to install the website again? Last question ;-) I just want to know a simple way to backup everything necessary, so not to have any troubles.

    Thanks Josue!

    Hey,

i think I get it. Two important steps …
    1) backup wp_content with ftp (filezilla)
    2) backup the database with a plugin or alterative the entire database with phpmyadmin manually. (export)

    right? :)

    Many thanks

    Hi!

Correct, you may want to save your wp-config.php, .htaccess and robots.txt files (in case you’ve set some configuration parameters there).

    Cheers!
