Hello,
I’m pretty new to the WordPress world.
I’m using for my personal website the Enfold theme and NextGEN gallery for my portfolio.
When I try to set a NextGEN featured image for a page, a post or a portfolio item, it hangs on SAVING, but it never saves it. Some other times, I get the following error: “Could not set that as the thumbnail image. Try a different attachment.”
I’ve tried to deactivate all my plugings, reinstall from scratch NextGEN and try to clean db entries, as suggested in other forums. Nothing worked for me. The only thing that fixed the problem is changing theme (I’ve tried with a twenty series one).
I’ve already contacted NextGEN support, they told me it’s not an issue from their side.
Even if it’s a bit annoying, I might think to temporary change my theme when I want to set a featured image. But when it comes to change it for a portfolio item, I can’t, because I see them only when Enfold is activated.
Is there anything else I can do?
Thank youNovember 13, 2015 at 3:07 pm #535415Hi Luigi!
Can you please firstly try updating Enfold to the latest version 3.4.2 – kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/?
Regards,
YigitNovember 13, 2015 at 4:54 pm #535507I’ve just updated from 3.4.1 to 3.4.2, but nothing changed :-(

November 16, 2015 at 10:36 pm #536914Hey!
It seems to be an issue with NextGen Gallery and reported also before I think.
Can you please ask the Next Gen Devs, to let you know where the issue is located, so we can try fix it for you. Thanks alot for your time and patience.
Cheers!
BasilisNovember 16, 2015 at 10:55 pm #536932I’ve just received an answer from NextGEN. This is what they wrote:
We would be happy to let you know where the issue is located but given there isn’t one with the default WordPress Twenty series themes when using NextGEN Gallery but there is an issue when using the Enfold theme it would point to the problem being within their code.
At this time our scope of support does not extend to other authors’ works … if we do happen to have time in our schedule and access to their code (the first may be possible at some time but the second would require their involvement) we may be able to debug their code to find the problem but at the moment the opportunity to sort this out immediately is not available.
Our apologies for any inconveniences this may be causing.

November 18, 2015 at 4:29 pm #538273Hello, I’m still waiting for a feedback here. Honestly I was expecting a more efficient customer care service. I know a bug fix might take time, but keeping a paying user posted should be immediate. I don’t know the nature of the bug, but if it happens only with this theme, I would exclude it’s a plugin issue. I gave you also a temporary admin profile in order to help you with debugging. Please let me know something
November 19, 2015 at 7:23 am #538765Hi,
We can’t guarantee third party plugins working with the theme, the simple reason being that there are a lot of plugins out there and being compatible with all of them would just not be possible. If the plugin is working with the default themes there’s probably nothing wrong with it but there seems to be a conflict with our theme. I would suggest you look for an alternative plugin which might work better or use the possibilities already built into the theme.

RikardNovember 19, 2015 at 11:52 am #538890This is really ridiculous. You’re asking me to look for an alternative plugin, when I’ve already paid for it, and I’ve paid for your theme. Furthermore, NextGEN is one of the most popular plugins for WordPress, I’m not talking about a piece of code I wrote on my own just for me!
I work as a software developer and this kind of bug would be classified as critical, meaning that there is an user that can’t continue working with the tools he paid and because of this, he deserves the absolute priority in the list of tickets for the next sprint. If that means collaborating with other companies, like in this case, it’s not my role bouncing the ball between you and them.
I don’t really want to be one of those annoying users, but at the same time I don’t really think I deserve this kind of assistance. So, I’m asking again, please find a solution for this issue and keep me posted. I’ve already give to you a temporary admin profile for accessing my wordpress. If you need something more let me know. If you need it, this is the support contact at NextGEN: (Email address hidden if logged out)Regards

November 20, 2015 at 11:19 am #539427Hey Luigi!
I was just trying to test the script on your installation when I was logged out and was no longer able to log in. Did the login credentials change?
Anyways:
Just to clarify. We are talking about the following scenario: you are on a single post/page/portfolio and want to set a feature image, and instead of choosing one of the default media library you want to use one of the next gen gallery. so you click the “Set NextGEN featured image” and this is were the problems start? If thats the case I would need access to your installation once more, since this feature works fine on my testserver. I am able to set a feature image from the nextgen gallery without problems…
Once I get the new login credentials I will check it on your server, maybe I get a js error or something similar that shows us the direction…
Best regards,
KriesiNovember 20, 2015 at 11:51 am #539442Hi Kriesi!
Good news! Before writing this answer, I’ve tried to replicate the issue for the last time, and while I was on the admin panel, I received a theme update notification, installed it (3.4.3) and now it’s finally working properly!
Thank you for your answer anywayRegards
Luigi
