    Hi,

    I have 2 separate webpages, with two separate domains and separate logins, separate WordPress installs and separate enfold installs.

    On both pages, I have text boxes. In the past, I have been able to click on “Insert Media”, choose the PDF from my uploaded files, and name the link. I can still get this far today -BUT- now when I click to “Update” the page – I get a forbidden or permission error.

    This has happened several times, on both separate sites. Is there a fix for this?

    Please help.

    -Michael

    Hi mbroooshkey!

    deactivate all plugins to check if one is causing this issue. Make sure to use newest WordPress and theme versions.

    Best regards,
    Andy

    @Andy

    I have no plugins activated and the versions are up to date. The problems remain.

    Hi,

    Could you please provide us with a temporary admin login so that we can take a closer look? You can post the details in the Private Content section of your reply.

    Regards,

    Hi!

    I have tested Adding a PDF media file into a test page and previously created page as shown in the screenshots below:

    However I did not receive a forbidden error message.

    Have you attempted clearing your cache or inserting the link with a different device?

    I did experience the error on the desert website, but I also noticed you were using an old version of Enfold.

    Updating Enfold may resolve the issue, similarly to your Martine website.

    @Dake

    Hi Dake,

    Thank you for the reply.

    I ran the update on DE, and cleared caches. On both sites, I can insert a pdf as an “Attachment Page” only, but not a “Media File”. I’d rather link to a media file than force the user to navigate through an intermediate page.

    As you mention, you successfully did the link on test pages. I can repeat that as well – links work on new pages I create. It’s my live pages that are giving me the forbidden errors. Any ideas?

    Hey!

    The example screenshots from Martine were PDF media file links.

    I’m still only experiencing the issue on DE. Please briefly activate the default WordPress theme and test to see if the error message reappears.

    Best regards,
    Dake

    @Dake

    Thanks again. I’m still hang the issues BUT I have narrowed it down to this:

    If I add a new text box to the END of the page, I CAN insert link, no problem. I save, it functions correctly. It’s when I try to insert the link in the middle of the page (where it needs to be) that there is an issue. So, I thought maybe it wasn’t accepting the link within a “Color Section” — but that’s not the case; After saving, I moved a WORKING text box from the bottom of the page into the middle of the page (between color sections, sliders, catalogs, etc). I tried placing the textbox itself into a color section, as well as leaving it independent. Either way, I press update and I get the Forbidden error.

    Could it be the code in some of these other elements that is causing this “forbidden” error?

    Hey!

    what happens when you activate a default WordPress theme?

    Best regards,
    Andy

    @Andy

    I activated default and went to edit… Looks like everything had to be written out in HTML, is that right? I didn’t edit anything and changed back to enfold immediately. Edited, tried again, got the same error.

    Is there something I should do when in default theme?

    #509205

    Hey!

    well, just check if you get the same error when you activate a default WordPress theme and let us know about your results.

    Cheers!

    @Andy

    I don’t see the avia builder when I activate the default WordPress theme.

    I can look at that tomorrow – but now even more pressing is this:
    Ever since I activated the “default” them and then back to enfold, now I have the following problem: (in private content):

    @Andy

    Looks like I found the issue for the second issue – I clicked on “Enfold>” and the frontpage wasn’t selected. It must clear when you activate a different theme?

    Is there anything else you know that needs to be reset?

    Anyway – I’ll try again with the default theme (which makes me nervous) and look into the link settings on Sunday– I just can’t believe it’s this difficult to insert a link. Enfold was so easy to use two months ago, and now linking to existing pdfs is destroying my page. Pictures in the same directory as this pdf are all over my site – I’m just throwing my hands up at this frustrating experience. I cannot understand that a link to a pdf in the same directory as my pics will not save.

    #509976

    Hey!

    still you did not tell us about your results when activating a default WordPress theme. Does linking a pdf work with it or not?

    Regards,
    Andy

    @Andy

    Same story when in Default theme. If I attempt to add the link to the PDF in the text box where I want it, about middle of the page, I get the SAME forbidden error.

    If I add a new textbox at the end of the page, it adds just fine, lets me update, etc. Let me stress that this is not a solution, as the link needs to be up in the appropriate text box in the appropriate section of the page.

    Thanks,
    Michael

    well, then we know that it’s not a theme related issue and in this case we can’t do much. You need to ask if there is a fix for you in general WordPress forum. I wish you good luck!

    Cheers!
    Andy
