    Hi,

    All my work to date has been online. I now wish to use offline and learn how this is done.

    XAMPP installer downloads (windows) available are for PHP version 5.5 & 5.6. My server is running version 5.2 and that I have limited understanding of what this means/benefits etc..

    My question is, Should I change my server PHP setting to 5.5 (5.6 not available) to use XAMPP? And/or should this be set to 5.5 anyhow for optimising using Enfold?

    Hey user877!

    WordPress uses the latest php versions, so it is good for you to run something more than php 5.3

    Hi Basilis,

    Thanks for that. Should I download XAMMP 5.5 or 5.6? My server only provides options up to 5.5. Not sure is backward compatible.

    Hey!

    It should be backward compatible. I’m running WAMP as a local server, PHP version is 5.4. Should be the same for XAMPP.
