Hi!
My blog is a grid with 2 columns. The featured images all have the same width (automatically), but the height varies. How can I set a fixed height and have the images scaled proportionally (and cropped automatically), in order to fit that height?
Thank you,

Could you provide us with a link to the site in question so that we can take a closer look please?

Please find the link below. You will also notice the blog images look unsharp, probably related to the scaling?

Wordpress is defining image sizes by default and you can control it with a plugin like: https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-image-sizes/
Cheers!

I can’t really see anything unsharp about your images, what height would you like to set them to?

RikardAugust 18, 2015 at 4:05 pm #489572Hi,
I have inserted this code, which I found on the forum: “.avia-content-slider .slide-image {width:306px;height:184px;overflow:hidden;}”. Although images are now cropped, there are still minimal differences in height, so I guess somthing isn’t right. Plus there are some jagged edges, visible on the featured image of the post I mentioned below. (It’s a hi-res picture)
Basically, I want to avoid always having to import images with the”right” proportions. I though some similar code would scale and crop them where needed. I had a look at the plugin, but unfortunately not quite straight-forward for me as a beginner.

the plugin I mentioned can do exactly what you want. It will resize your images to the size you wish. Have a look at the plugin’s FAQ: https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-image-sizes/faq/ or try to reach their support if necessary for you. Though I think it’s a simple one to use.

Ok, thank you, I will try it then. There is something wrong with my code. When browsing on mobile, there’s a grey area below the images. I’ll see if the plugin solves that.
