I woke up this morning to discover that all my settings in the General Styling section had changed back to the default, however, on the front end, the site is displaying properly. It looks as though I switched back to my parent theme, but I haven’t. I’m still using my child theme, but I’ve lost all of my general styling settings. (Even though everything appears the same on the front end)
I’m also noticing that if I type in a color hex code in one of the sections, it automatically changes the numbers up a little after I type the last number. for example, if I type in #008F59, as soon as I type the 9, it switches to #008F58.
Something really strange is happening to my general styling settings. I’ve used the Enfold theme many times, so I’m very familiar with it, but I’ve never had this problem before.
I’m going to try to go back and put all of my settings back in general styling and see what happens. Meanwhile, any ideas of why this is happening or how to prevent it in the future?

July 16, 2015 at 4:42 pm #474434Hi Tracy!
Did you accidentally push one of the predefined color schemes and save? If so then that will set most of the settings to the predefined color scheme.
You can export your theme settings in Dashboard > Enfold > Import/Export in case it happens again.
The hex colors switching up to the next available color is normal.
Cheers!
ElliottJuly 17, 2015 at 3:27 am #474656No, I didn’t push one of the predefined color schemes. It turned out it was ALL of my settings had disappeared in the theme settings were reset to the default. Even though it wasn’t affecting the site on the front end. I even restored the site from a backup from the day before, and it was the same thing. The site looked fine, but when I looked at the theme settings, they were all back to the default (Logo and everything). If I made one change in them and saved them, the whole site went back to the default settings. It was really strange.
In any case, I ended up customizing all my settings again, and yes, I’ll be backing them up this time.
Thanks for getting back to me!

I’m not sure what could have gone wrong there but I’m glad you got it fixed. Please let us know if you should have any more trouble with it.

RikardSeptember 23, 2015 at 7:10 am #507513Hi, everyone,
Not sure if I should open a new thread on this or not but I wanted to let you know that I had the exact same experience.
Today I happened to look at a site that I built recently and discovered that all the custom settings had reverted to default. In addition, when I was trying to restore them the theme didn’t want to accept the new hex codes. It wasn’t switching up to the next color, it simply wouldn’t recognize anything other than the default setting. Eventually, after a few attempts, I was able to get the colors reset but it was all very strange.
Thankfully, I have a file with all the custom Theme settings but I appreciate the information about the Import/Export feature and from now on will make a point of exporting the Theme Settings as per Elliott’s instructions.
Still, I’m baffled as to what’s causing the problem in the first place! The glitch makes me a little wary as I just launched another site using the Enfold theme and am about to begin a new project where I’ll be using it again. Obviously, I love the theme and my clients are happy with it too but it concerns me that there might be a bug. It would be great if someone could look into this.
Thanks for creating such a great theme and for the incredible support you provide!
September 23, 2015 at 9:54 am #507567Hi,
I’ve never heard of this happening to anyone except in this thread so I’m pretty sure it’s something local and I don’t think you have anything to worry about. You didn’t happen to install a child theme or something like that before it happened?

RikardSeptember 24, 2015 at 1:36 am #508124Hi, Rikard,
Thanks for your quick response!
The site was built using a child theme but as far as I know, no one has been anywhere near the site recently. I checked with my client about that yesterday and she said she hadn’t logged in for a few weeks.
A couple of weeks ago, I did take a look at the site with Firebug but it was rendering correctly at the time.
September 24, 2015 at 4:43 pm #508604Hey!
Also keep in mind that when activating a child theme the settings will be reset (as it’s technically a different theme). You can import the parent settings in Dashboard > Enfold > Import/Export though.

ElliottSeptember 24, 2015 at 8:51 pm #508692Hi, Elliott,
Thanks for your input!
I don’t think it’s relevant in this case, however, because the child theme and the parent theme were both installed at the same time before I even began working on the project. That is to say, any changes that have been made to the Theme Settings have been applied to the Child Theme since Day 1.
Since I installed the theme there have been a couple of theme updates but they have never affected the Theme Settings, nor have WP updates. Things went haywire the other day out of the blue, and it sounds like the same thing happened to the person who originally posted this thread. That’s what’s so baffling about it!

Perhaps you have another user account and someone else changed the settings?

September 26, 2015 at 1:34 am #509331Hi, Elliott!
There is no other user account and nobody had touched the site since I last accessed it two weeks ago, at which time everything was still displaying normally. That’s why it’s a mystery!
Thanks,
Joyful_1September 27, 2015 at 11:30 am #509663Hey!
it could be that hackers attacked your website. Make sure to use security options (plugins) on your WordPress installation.

AndySeptember 30, 2015 at 2:14 am #511070Hi, Andy!
Thanks for your input. It’s certainly worth considering and yes, with regards to your advice on the use of security plugins, I agree!
Maybe we’ll eventually find a definitive answer to this mystery. Meanwhile, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if anyone else reports a similar problem.

Joyful_1September 30, 2015 at 12:07 pm #511382Hi!
haven’t heard about a similar problem, as long as security plugins were enabled.
Let us know in a new ticket if you have some more questions related to the theme. We are happy to assist you.Regards,
