I’m Using the “Blog Posts” Element in the Avia Layout Builder for the Posts page, and I’ve chosen “Excerpt with Read More Link”, but no excerpt appears… gone back in and changed lots of settings, in theme options, theme customize, blog page itself, back and forth, no matter what I do, can’t get excerpt
strange, wonder if there’s a problem with newest Enfold Update because in my other Enfold sites, this works…

I selected Display only title in Title Bar settings in the righthand Layout menu and the title is showing now on the post you linked in your first message.

Hey!
There is no excerpt because you use the advance layout builder to build the post content. If you use the advance layout builder for post, you need to add a custom summary in the Excerpt meta box. Go to Screen > Options then enable the Excerpt. If you don’t want to do this manually, switch to the default editor. The excerpt will be automatically taken from the default editor content.

There must be something I am missing – I have used Enfold many times and i know it does this, but it won’t seem to on this particular site, the one you placed the custom excerpt in: http://new.ganderconsulting.com/articles/
I feel like a total dummy: this always works! Help, there must be a simple answer :)

Like Ismael said, if you use the Advanced Layer Builder for posts you will not get automatic exerpts, please use the default editor instead.

RikardThe Advanced Layer Builder works on other sites… I’ve used it, it even gives you the option to add excerpts in the element… used on other sites and works great, just saying.
On this site, it doesn’t work either way, with default editor or with Advanced Layer Builder – so there is something wrong – I had no option but to add custom excerpts for them to show, but I promise you it works on other sites using Enfold – the one I showed you – nacweconnect.com – I am using the Advanced Layout Builder – all of the same settings – and it works awesome – so their is definitely a problem with this other site, I just can’t figure it out.

You can select to show the Excerpt box in the post’s edit screen if you select Screen Options in the top righthand corner.

I really like the enfold theme, however, I’m facing the same as above, will it be possible (or in future releases) to show an excerpt automaticly while using the advanced builder?
Or is it possible to do this by editing/programming functions.php?

I’we been trying for days now to get my excerpts to show up. I am using the Avia Layout Builder to make up my blog page but the Excerpts won’t show. I have added the excerpts manually, buttoned all setting and tried all the code I could find on the forum.It is not only that the excerpt is not showing but I can also not disable the read more link from theme settings basically all the theme setting commands I try to give to my blog layout are ignored.
Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Thanks for the update.
I’m not yet sure why the excerpt is not displaying. Did you add any modifications to the theme? Is it OK to deactivate the plugins while we debug the issue?

IsmaelYes there have been some modifications made to woocommerce but i don;t think that should influence blog post excerpts.
I will deactivate plugins now and keep it that way for an hour if that is sufficient or go ahead and deactivate/ activate everything what ever as you need.Thank you

The excerpt displays when the plugins are deactivated. I’m not sure which one is causing the issue but you can test it by activating the plugins one at a time. I created a test page with the excerpt settings enabled. (see private field)

This is a late update but, yes, the excerpts not showing were caused by some custom code I added.
I have not found what exactly it was but given that all the code added had it’s purpose, I’we decided to go without excerpts.Thank you for the assistance
