When I go to edit a page I get the loading circle for the content area where I should see the layout editor. It just keeps loading forever, I try opening new windows and browsers and it does not work.

Please make sure that you are using the latest version of Enfold which is currently 3.1.2 – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/
