I added the page preloader to my site and it seems to be working well except for one issue. If you use the browser navigation arrows to go back to the previous page the preloader shows up but is frozen and the page won’t load. (See attached image) The only way to get the page to load is refresh the page in the browser. When the navigation arrows on the browser are used to move forward this doesn’t seem to be an issue since the preloader doesn’t show up then. (I’m using Safari) The pre loader works fine as long as you are clicking on menu items or buttons on the page. I checked out other themes that use pre loaders and this doesn’t seem to be an issue. I assume this is something that will have to be changed in an update but just wanted to point it out so you can look into it.
March 19, 2015 at 4:14 pm #414564Hi djshortkut!
I tried to reproduce the issue using Safari 8.0.2 on OS X 10.10 but i could not. Which versions are you using?
If you do not mind me posting it publicly, i can post a screencastCheers!
YigitMarch 24, 2015 at 4:21 pm #417141I am using Safari version 8.0.4 and OS X 10.10.2 This also happens on mobile devices using Safari running iOS version 8.2 When you arrow back using the browsers arrow, the pre loader freezes and won’t load the page. The only way to load the page is to refresh in the browser or click the back arrow again. This happens on all of my installs of Enfold. I updated to the most recent version of 3.1.2 but it didn’t help this issue.
March 25, 2015 at 10:46 am #417655Hi!
Thank you for the info. I can’t reproduce the issue on every major browsers on Windows 7 and 8. Do you have any browser extensions? Try to remove browser cache then reload the page.
Best regards,
IsmaelApril 7, 2015 at 10:03 am #424539Hey guys,
just jumping in here to report that I have the same issue both with Firefox and IE11 on Win7, but not with Chrome!
No extensions etc. on the IE. When in the Woocommerce shop page, click on one item to get to the single item details page – works. Go back with browser back button – sometimes works, but takes a bit longer, than on Chrome, and sometimes freezes with the white circle in the center. At the latest after third try going back from one single item page, the screen freezes for sure.
Switching off the preloader solves the issue.
Cheers,
KlausApril 7, 2015 at 1:44 pm #424660Hi!
@klausw Can you please post the link to your website?
Have you tried de-activating all active plugins and check if that helps?Cheers!
YigitApril 7, 2015 at 2:09 pm #424686Hi Yigit,
I switched off the preloader, as honestly it is not so important for me. Switched it on again now, and what to say – it works without problems (and without any further change on my side). So currently not able to reproduce the problem.
I will keep it switched on now, and let’s see how it evolves. If it happens again, I will provide the link as private message, as it is on a test server, which should not be public.
Thanks!
KlausApril 7, 2015 at 2:28 pm #424696Hi Klaus!
Thanks for sharing!
@djshortkut, could you try the old switch off/switch on to see if yours behave the same way?
Cheers!
RikardApril 14, 2015 at 10:39 pm #428508Unfortunately it’s still not working. The preloader freezes when I hit the back arrow and the page won’t load until I refresh.
April 16, 2015 at 7:53 am #429376Hey!
The weird thing is, the browser back button is not enabled after 3 or 4 clicks on different pages. After the 4th or 5th try, the back button turned on and I was able to go back to the page without the preloader freezing. A user reported this issue once but I think he fixed the issue because he didn’t respond anymore. Please try to deactivate all plugins then test it again on another browser.
Cheers!
IsmaelApril 16, 2015 at 8:42 am #429404djshortkut, for me I figured out that it was not the Page Preloader, but the Page Transitions that caused the problem. I guess you have also switched this on? Try without it, for me it works then.
As even the remark for the Page Transitions states, it can cause problems when navigating dynamic content, which is exactly what we are doing.
Cheers,
KlausApril 16, 2015 at 4:26 pm #429715Thanks for the help Klaus! Turning off the page transitions fixed the issue. You can close this thread.
