Hi
I’m on WP v4.1.1 and Enfold v3.1
I have a child theme active. My home page was displaying fine. All of the sudden it seems to ignore the page’s layout settings. It is now suddenly displaying a sidebar and title & breadcrumb, even though I have explicit layout settings on the page to hide it. What is also strange, is that it is displaying a title from another post, not even that of the home page.
Kind Regards

It’s not letting me login. Is the information correct?
Make sure your not using any static pages in Dashboard > Settings > Reading and that you deactivate all plugins while testing.

Try to overwrite the header.php and helper-main-menu.php file in the child theme folder. See if it helps.

Overwrite it with what?

The problem is the customization in the header.php file your doing in your child theme. Upload a fresh copy of the header.php file there and then add your customizations in one by one to see which one is causing the problem.

ElliottMarch 18, 2015 at 8:41 pm #413957Hi Elliott
I deleted the header.php from the child theme as there were actually no customizations in the file. The problem is still there.
I even tried to switch to the Enfold theme, where I saw exactly the same thing. The page layout settings are being ignored if I try and hide the breadcrumb and page title. Can you please advise?

MMarch 19, 2015 at 4:07 pm #414556Hi!
I checked the page’s screen options but I don’t see the custom fields. Did you somehow manage to remove it? Note that the page layout value is saved as meta or custom field.
Cheers!
IsmaelMarch 19, 2015 at 4:56 pm #414622I’ve installed the plugin White Label CMS, which hides the custom fields. I’ve added them back to the screen for you to evaluate. If I look at the values of the custom fields vs the values of the options in the dropdown, then it all seems correct.
I’ve seen the same problem on a new page I created, which is NOT the home page, called Home TEST. The layout settings are ignored.

I’m still not sure why the settings are being ignored. Did you transfer the website recently? We recommend the WP MigrateDB or WP MigrateDB PRO plugin when transferring website to keep the database and theme options intact.
Cheers!
IsmaelMarch 20, 2015 at 10:32 am #415186Hi
No the website was not transferred recently. It was deployed to the live server in December. Everything was working fine until this week.
The option that is lost, is the layout settings which is specific to the page – not the overall settings of the theme. The default theme options are set to display a sidebar – THIS page’s layout settings is meant to override that though.
If the theme options was not intact, then surely it would not show correctly on the backend theme settings page? If I open the theme settings, I can see them saved correctly. If I view the page, I can see the layout settings saved correctly – yet, when the page is generated the front-end display is wrong.Kind Regards

My client was getting very unhappy that this issue is taking so long to resolve. I’ve manipulated the display in CSS to manually hide the sidebar on the homepage. To continue debugging the issue, please look at the page HOME TEST, which is displaying the same problem. It is a page that is set up to hide the sidebar and title & breadcrumb, yet both sidebar & breadcrumb are displaying when the page is viewed in a browser.
Thanks
mMarch 21, 2015 at 9:09 am #415683Hey!
We’re very sorry that you’re having this issue but we’re not sure why the page specific settings is not being used. This is working fine on our installations so it must be a third party plugin, I suspect the one that you use to hide the custom fields before, or a custom modification that is causing the issue. Is it possible for us to check the database of the site? You can check the data yourself, go to the database > wp_postmeta then search for the meta_key “layout”. Check if the value of the home page is set to fullsize.
Try to delete the parent theme completely inside the themes folder then replace it with a fresh copy.
Cheers!

Is it working now? I activated Enfold and then activated your child theme again and I don’t see the title bar anymore.
I tried deactivating your plugins for testing but it keeps redirecting me to a page saying, “Are you sure you want to do this?” and quits.
It seems like your site has undergone quite a bit of customization so it’s hard for us to figure out what’s going on. I would try creating a backup and then delete all of your plugins (also the extra copies of Enfold you have in your theme directory) and then download + upload a fresh copy from themeforest. After doing this you should have a fresh copy of Enfold 3.1.1 or 3.1.2 (we have a new update in the queue right now) and you can check it with that.
Best regards,

It seems to be working again even though no changes were made from my side. Maybe changing between the two themes reset something, even though I tried that a number of times.
Thanks for trying to help.
