Hello,
I have switched between the basic demo, and then the restaurant one. It all went wrong, pages from Restaurant were still around with the basic demo, etc. THen I uninstalled on my ftp the whole theme, and installed it again, then activated it again. Pages from Restaurant were still there on Basic demo, even though I didn’t use it this time.
It’s now a total mess.
What have I done wrong in the deleting process on the FTP?
How can I get back to a clean and virgin version of the theme if uninstalling and reinstalling didn’t do the job? Please help.March 9, 2015 at 8:53 pm #408435Hi jsgaden!
When you import one of the demos it is going to download the pages, widgets, and images, etc etc. We cannot delete your content (pages / posts) etc, so you will need to delete those yourself. The only thing we can delete are the theme settings and like you have seen they will be overwritten when you import a new demo but the pages will stay there.
So you can delete them all manually or reinstall WordPress. You could also try a plugin out such as this, https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-reset/, but I have not used those types of plugins before.

Actually it added many pages that were not mine (coming from both demos). I did delete them manually (took ages) but they seem to still be somewhere so it’s not the solution I am afraid…
I am going to reinstall WP I guess it’s the best solution but I’m worried about having to re do a MySQL..
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-reset/, is not working for WP 4.1 :-(((
Do you have a paid service for reinstalling WP from scratch? I’m spending too much time on this.- This reply was modified 9 years, 8 months ago by jsgaden.
March 10, 2015 at 6:19 pm #408991Hey!
Sorry, when I say reinstall WordPress I meant create a new database also. The pages, posts, etc etc, are stored in the database.
When you say “they seem to still be somewhere” are you talking about in your menu? If so then navigate to Dashboard > Appearance > Menus and delete the menu that is being used and create a new one.
Also check your trash folder for your pages to make sure they are completely deleted and not just hiding out in the trash.
Cheers!
