One great addition I personally would like to see would be the option to have all images reprocessed and watermarks added to them. I have about 300 thousand images on our sites, photos from events. When I upload the images I would love to be able to say if I want a watermark when the system reprocesses them in different sizes. It would use a transparent png probably or you could just go with static © text at the bottom. This would be great because the fight with images being put on Facebook and other sites without the © is frustrating.

That is pretty specific so I think that there is a low probability of it getting added to the theme. Instead it feels like this kind of functionality belongs in a plugin. I would check in the WordPress plugin directory, https://wordpress.org/plugins/.
