This may be an unusual thing to try to do, but on our website we have pages where the minutes of our past meetings are archived. Here is the page for 2014 for example: http://cmktowncouncil.org/2014-minutes/
What I want to do is customise that search box I’ve put in the top left corner so that instead of searching the entire site, like the main search function in the menu bar does, it instead searches all of the minutes we’ve uploaded. You can see these by clicking the links on the 2014 minutes page – ideally we’d like the search to cover the other years as well, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2015, which you can find via the links on the left. So if someone searches for ‘parking’, it brings up any of the minutes documents that includes that word.
Can I do this?
Many thanks.
Hey TownCouncil!
Please try using a more advanced search plugin such as – https://wordpress.org/plugins/relevanssi/ ( implementation here – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/use-relevanssi-in-search-instead-of-the-default-search/ ) or SearchWP ( implementation here – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/use-searchwp-instead-of-the-standard-search/ )
Best regards,
Yigit
Thanks – I tried installing and implementing Relevanssi but it just gives ‘no results’ to any query I put into it. We’d also like the search function on the minutes page to only return results from the minutes files, not from the whole site, if that’s possible.
Hey!
I’m sorry but the search function that you’re asking is a bit complicated and falls under custom modification. Please hire a freelance developer or find another plugin that coincides with the theme. For further modifications, please visit Envato Studio or Werkpress.
