I have WP 4.1, and installed Enfold on Jan. 6. I have no coding knowledge.
I’m having difficulty with the contact form. Initially neither the title/text block nor the contact form would show up. Yesterday I placed the contact form into a 1/1 column element, and deactivated all plugins. Now the title/text block is showing up, but the contact form is still MIA.
I’m also trying to figure out how to add a newsletter sign-up form to my site, but I don’t see any templates in the content elements that would accomplish this. I’ve tried several plugins but haven’t had any luck finding one that (a) I like and/or (b) shows up when I update & view the page.
Yesterday I added a ‘Testimonials’ slider to the frontpage and for a couple of hours it displayed properly, then the text went MIA, although the slider scrollbars are still there.
Any suggestions?
January 15, 2015 at 8:37 am #379902I’ve also put a toggle/accordion form on one of my pages. It *looks* fine when viewing the page; however, clicking the + sign to expand the content does nothing.
This element has very few settings to configure, and those are pretty self-explanatory, so I have no idea what the problem is. Anyone have any ideas?
January 15, 2015 at 8:46 pm #380414Hey!
Your getting some javascript errors. Let’s try the following.
1. Deactivate all plugins.
2. Completely delete Enfold from your WordPress theme directory before downloading + uploading a fresh copy from themeforest.
Best regards,
ElliottJanuary 16, 2015 at 12:50 am #380548Thanks for the reply, Elliott. However, in researching how to delete the theme it seems that has to be done in FTP. As I mentioned in my initial post, I have no coding knowledge, and while I have *heard* of FTP I have absolutely no clue what it is or how to use it – in the same way that I have heard of the Higgs bosun, but I would have no idea what to do with it if I discovered it.
I watched this video http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/portfolio-item/update-theme-files-with-ftp/, and downloaded FileZilla, but this is literally like a foreign language to me. I understand I have to connect something-to-something, but I don’t know what my host name etc. is so I can’t even do that.
January 16, 2015 at 6:28 pm #380968Hey!
Please post FTP access here privately and upload freshly downloaded Enfold.zip somewhere on FTP and let us know where so we can update the theme for you.
Cheers!
YigitJanuary 16, 2015 at 9:53 pm #381093Yigit – As mentioned above, I have no idea how to use FTP so I don’t know what you mean. In any case, I had a friend of mine help me with deleting and reinstalling Enfold. Most of the issues were resolved by doing that, with the exception of my newsletter sign-up form (which is a plugin because I don’t see anything native to the theme that would function as a sign-up form).
So then I began activating plugins again, one by one, and viewing the site each after each one to make sure it was okay. Everything was fine until I activated the Yoast WordPress SEO plugin. Now the Testimonials slider text has disappeared again, and the toggle/accordion form has stopped responding again (when you attempt to expand the sections). I have deactivated Yoast again, but that did not resolve the issues.
Any suggestions?
January 19, 2015 at 4:13 pm #381851Hi!
It seems like you have updated the theme successfully. Can you try de-activating WooCommerce and check if that helps? If it does, please try re-installing the plugin
Cheers!
YigitJanuary 19, 2015 at 10:42 pm #382145I have managed to restore the Testimonials slider on the frontpage, as well as the functionality of the toggle/accordion form. However, I have not yet reactivated the Yoast plugin, and none of the newsletter signup plugins I have tested work at all (with or without any plugins activated) – all that shows up on that page is
“Nothing Found
Sorry, no posts matched your criteria”These two issues are extremely problematic, and do not make sense at all since I have seen numerous sites using Enfold that are using Yoast and have a signup form. So what do I have to do to get this theme to work properly?
January 21, 2015 at 1:34 am #382811I’ll help you out with the newsletter in the other thread.
Best regards,
JosueJanuary 21, 2015 at 2:39 am #382840There appears to be compatibility issue of some kind with the Yoast WordPress SEO plugin. When Yoast is activated, it ‘breaks’ the Testimonials slider (located at the bottom of the frontpage), as well as the toggle/accordion form I’m using on my FAQ page (i.e. the sections won’t expand when clicked).

JosueJanuary 22, 2015 at 9:34 am #383559I’ve checked everything out, looks good! Thank you very much. I have sent that link to my website host asking him to update things asap!

JosueJanuary 23, 2015 at 10:30 pm #384684Update: So based on the link that you provided, I asked my webhost to update whatever was necessary. This was his response:
“The mod_security rule set is governed by the woocommerce plugin. If it needs to be updated then the plugin needs to be updated. Woocommerce is a third party plugin. I can investigate this issue to see what I can do but by the sounds of it your running into a compatibility issue between your theme and the ecommerce plug-in. We neither write nor update the mod_security ruleset nor was it installed with the 4.0 WordPress. This gets installed when you added plugins.”
So now what? I don’t know if he’s correct, delusional, incompetent, or avoiding responsibility for the issues my site has experienced. :-(
January 24, 2015 at 12:45 am #384725Could be, nevertheless the plugin did the fix so i don’t think it’s worth worrying about it right now.
Regards,
JosueJanuary 24, 2015 at 1:44 am #384744Okay thanks.
