I just email about a recurring problem I have every time I install the enfold theme, I wanted to add a few notes and a link to a snapshot of the error message. These sites are all in subfolders under my root godaddy domain.
I also wanted to mention that these errors occur as soon as I installed enfold and before I installed enfold child or any plugins. Same problem with all three websites I built this past month with the enfold theme. The first time I’ve used enfold. .The error message I get every time I try to edit the site in any way:
504 Error
It appears the website you are trying to visit is having technical difficulties or is no longer available.
Please go back and try your request again or try searching Google to find another website with what you’re looking for!I like the demo of the enfold theme, however after installing for 3 different websites all three are giving me problems. they won’t let me edit them. I keep getting a broken page after many minutes of the website dashboard stalling/stuck in processing mode and then it finally gives me an error and the editing page disappears. It happens 98% of the time. In other words, if I want to make simple edits that take maybe 15 minutes-30 minutes, it takes me 5 hours. Please tell me if this is a problem anyone can or has solved. I have used the latest version of wordpress, this theme enfold, and very few plugins. all up-to-date. It wont let me upload plugins or theme upgrades like enfold child without taking hours. It’s impossible to use this theme if it will behave like this always. I am using chrome but I have the same problem in explorer. My laptop is using windows 7. I have no problems using other themes. They are all on the same godaddy server/account. I have been a web designer for 16 years. Please help! I really like the theme and want to be able to use it! I usually also have to right click on any editing link before it even lets me try to edit. then when I save it gives an error message if not by directly or right-clicking to edit in the first place. I’ve been using wordpress for 5 years.
December 22, 2014 at 6:20 pm #371629Hey lms200519!
This is usually a problem with the server. Have you tried contacting your hosting provider? If they cannot resolve the errors your receiving then it would be best to find a new hosting provider.
Here are some other troubleshooting steps you can try, http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/504error.htm.
Cheers!
ElliottDecember 24, 2014 at 3:12 am #372361I am using godaddy. Do you have any recommendations for hosting providers? Godaddy wants me to pay for an upgrade and won’t guarantee any improvement. I don’t think I should have to pay double my monthly hosting rate to have a simple wordpress demo work. Or maybe work. I’ve spent another full day trying to edit the menu buttons and add 2 new pages and edit the homepage. I still can’t get it to save changes to the homepage. It took me 10 hours to add two new pages (just cut and pasting a few paragraphs each) and adding 2 navigation buttons. I have had no issues with previous wordpress themes on the same hosting server yet this problem occurs with every install of this theme. I updated the php.ini file. I even tried placing it where this forum recommends and then in the root of my hosting folder as godaddy recommended and that didn’t work. I tired different content for the php.ini file based on research on the internet. and even tried renaming it php5.ini as godaddy recommended. Nothing helps. I have spent over 30 hours on two different sites using this theme waiting for the site to save simple changes that would all take under 30 minutes on other themes. just simple text edits. I see alot of people complaining about slow loading of this theme and no solutions offered. Have other people switched servers and fixed this problem> Has anyone with this problem found a solution? If so, please share with me.

Did you already try to increase PHP memory limit? To do so you can try to contact you server or if it’s possible do it yourself:

Why does your host want you to upgrade? To achieve what?Cheers!
AndyDecember 29, 2014 at 7:57 pm #372772Thanks for the quick response. It turns out I needed to upgrade to a wordpress optimized server and now it works fine on godaddy.
