How to activate conditional menus in a child theme?

Hi, I just found out that you have conditional menu functionality built in to enfold! I can’t find anything in the documentation section about it, but I did find a couple of posts stating to drop this code into functions.php in the parent theme. Since I’m using a child-theme I dropped it in that functions.php instead, but it doesn’t seem to be working. How do I activate this with a child theme please?

add_theme_support(‘avia_conditionals_for_mega_menu’);

I see that it says ‘mega_menu’. Do I have to be using a mega menu for it to work? I want to hide normal menu items, I’m not using the mega menu stuff.
