    I don’t know if this is a z-index issue, but when I’m on a product page the sub menu goes on top of my product image and becomes unusable…see example attached privately.

    Yes it is, please add following code to Quick CSS in Enfold theme options under General Styling tab

    header#header {
z-index: 501;
}
