How to force a break

Are there any undocumented shortcodes ( like [nolink] ) that will force a <br/> or similar?

For example I am using a 2/3 – 1/3 column shortcode but the 1/3rd column only has a large button. Underneath that is a new section of content that should appear under the 2/3rd column but at the moment I am seeing the content start directly under the 1/3rd column on the right of the page. So I’d like to force the next section to start under the 2/3rd column…in some themes you get a short code like [clear] to assist in these situations.

If there isn’t a short code what is the best technique to achieve this?
