I need help adding another social button at in the header line of a page with enfold theme.
It didn’t give me a ‘xing’ icon in the backend. Is there any chance I can add it myself or would I have to wait for another release of the theme?
Thanks for any help on this!October 2, 2014 at 10:24 am #328810Hi beenee!
Thank you for using Enfold.
Xing icon is available on Enfold 3.0. Please go to Enfold > Social Profiles panel.
Cheers!
IsmaelOctober 2, 2014 at 11:18 am #328833Thanks Ismail,
I just realised I obviously cannot find out which version of Enfold runs here. I took over the work from a previous admin.
In order to check for theme updates, it asks me for a themeforest account.IS the only way to update the theme that I contact the actual buyer of the theme in order to update?
Do you know any more efficient way?October 2, 2014 at 11:24 am #328837OK awefully sorry, I found an old mail where it states this data!!
Checked for updates:
“No Updates available. You are running the latest version! Great!”Now I’m still looking into “theme options > header
…where I use the “header with social icons and buttons”Still no xing icon to pick!
Do you have any ideas why?
Thanks for your help!
October 2, 2014 at 12:32 pm #328858Hi!
You are currently using a very old version of Enfold. Please update the theme to the latest version 3.0 via FTP – http://vimeo.com/67209750
You are going to need to go to ThemeForest and login with the account you have purchased Enfold and go to Downloads section to download the latest version. You may need to re-configure header options after the update – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/portfolio-item/intro-to-the-header-configurator/Best regards,
YigitOctober 2, 2014 at 9:24 pm #329260Hi Vigit,
thanks a lot for this!!!
Updating an overall outdated Enfold Theme might cause even more issues then just the header reconfiguration, don’t you think?I’m a bit scared to update being pretty new to WP. Other then the general backups would you recommend other precautions befor I start the manual update?
txs again,
Stefan
October 4, 2014 at 5:14 am #330098Hi!
Actually, updating the theme is essential to keep up with WordPress and third party plugins. As long as you didn’t modify anything on the theme files, you are good to go. Theme options will be retained as it is. If possible, please use a child theme: http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/using-a-child-theme/

IsmaelOctober 4, 2014 at 11:32 am #330169Thanks Ismael,
that’s really good and helpful news!I have taken over the Enfold from a previous admin and cannot really say if anything was altered.
I’ll try!
One quick question:
If anything fails or ruins the LAyout after update to the latest Enfold theme, would I be able to roll back with WP means? Or would a full backup do the trick? (I’m using BackUpWordPress). What’s the best advise?
As I mentioned befor, I’m relatively new to WP, needless to say, all help is very appreciated, txs again
StefanOctober 6, 2014 at 2:26 am #330652Hey!
I’m sorry but it looks like you’re using 2.0.1 which is almost a year old. A lot has change since and the update to 3.0 will definitely break few elements on your website. You need to reconfigure them again or create those broken element from scratch. Please update the theme regularly if new version is available.
Cheers!

October 6, 2014 at 1:22 pm #330850Hi Ismael,
thanks for the info!
Is there any efficient way I can try the update and roll-back if it ruins the design completely?
Thanks
StefanOctober 6, 2014 at 1:31 pm #330855Hey!

YigitOctober 8, 2014 at 12:18 pm #332308Hi,
I thought I understood the brilliant idea to create a child theme for testing purposes!
I set up a child theme folder as per codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes page
What I’m lacking is the “import from parent theme” button.
My style.css:
/*
Theme Name: Enfold Child
Theme URI: http://perioli-language-pilots.de/enfold-child
Description: A Child Theme for the Enfold WordPress Theme. If you plan to do a lot of file modifications we recommend to use this Theme instead of the original Theme. Updating will be much easier then.
Author: John Doe
Author URI: http://kriesi.at
Template: enfold
Version: 1.0.0
Text Domain: enfold
*/@import url(“../enfold/style.css”);
/* =Theme customization starts here
————————————————————– */
Any Ideas what could be wrong? This is the first step from updating Enfold 2.01 to the latest Enfold version.
I need to make sure to reduce offline times of the page.
Thanks for your help!
October 8, 2014 at 12:29 pm #332315Hi!
Import parent theme options button will appear when you update the parent theme to the latest version. Old version did not have such feature
Cheers!
YigitOctober 8, 2014 at 1:29 pm #332371OK,
I need to make sure I can handle all the issues deriving from an Enfold update (2.01 to 3.0)
Otherwise I don’t touch it.
Any ideas on how I can ‘test’ the update first?
I know, I’ve got a backup. Excuse me for being over-cautious.
October 8, 2014 at 1:31 pm #332373Hi!
Can you create a testing environment? You can refer to this page to move your installation to another domain – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/move-from-a-local-installation-to-a-live-server/

YigitOctober 26, 2014 at 7:43 pm #341154Hi there,
I’m catching up on the Enfold update for my customer
http://perioli-language-pilots.de/The purchase code should be:
d3dcfe33-f6ad-4b75-8406-9af193a8058a
It was purchased by the ‘designer’ Stephanie Lotties.I’m the admin and developer of the page now and like to update
everything manually on a test environment.Where can I get the update files for the latest Enfold (3.0?), please.
Thanks for your help,
Stefan

You need the themeforest account. Login then go to the Downloads panel.

IsmaelOctober 27, 2014 at 11:12 am #341423Thanks!
in order to get the update, I had to contact the previous admin of the site who originally bought it. I just took over the responsibilities…
Is there any way to transfer a purchase code to the actual “owner” of the website, hence to another themeforest/envato user?
Thanks again,
Stefan
October 28, 2014 at 12:35 am #341892Hey Stefan
You are going to need to contact Envato Support as we cannot decide or make such changes – https://help.market.envato.com/hc/en-us
Cheers!
YigitJune 24, 2015 at 3:21 pm #464162This can actually be closed as solved!
