Socket Definition?

Hey Enfold Support – what is a socket in your terms? With the name socket, assuming it was used intuitively, I would think it was a header item or connection to some inside function. I’ve looked everywhere and it seems that wordpress does not use them, but rather this is a low level programing term. I can’t figure out the way you are using socket?

Mechanical Socket:
Socket head screw, a screw (or bolt) with a cylindrical head containing a socket into which the hexagonal ends of an Allen wrench will fit

Linux Socket
