Hello,
I have a problem with the WPML language switcher.
I added the code as described here: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/display-language-switcher-in-wpml-and-enfold/ and ticked the “Display the language switcher in the WP Menu”.
The flags in the main menu disappeared but the dropdown does not show up. Can you help me?
Thanks a lot in advance!

September 5, 2014 at 10:15 am #313887Hey Fiorelina!
Did you select the right menu from the dropdown next to the “Display the language switcher in the WP Menu” checkbox?
Cheers!

Thanks for your quick response.
Yes, it’s the correct menu – the main menu that is visible on the site itself.
Kind regards

Ok, please give the user “kriesisupport” admin rights – I’ll check the configuration.

done – you have admin rights.
Thanks again
September 6, 2014 at 11:07 am #314446Hey!
I couldn’t find the reason why it’s not working. I think it might be a problem of some customized code – I noticed that some theme options (i.e. the “Secondary Menu” option) also don’t work. Please try to upload an unmodified version of Enfold 2.9.2 and check if the language switcher then starts to work. You can also try to report the issue to the WPML – maybe they can provide some useful hints why it’s not working in your case.

PeterSeptember 8, 2014 at 2:52 pm #315083Hey, guys!
I’ve had this issue regularly. But with the solutions offered on Kriesi’s support page I could solve it.
NOW, with the updates WP (4.0) and its necessary updates of Enfold and WPML nothing helps anymore! And no, I’ve used no modified versions of Enfold.
Aren’t there more users having this problem?
Could you guys help us?
Kind regards
September 9, 2014 at 3:27 pm #315910Hi Peter,
Thank you for your investigation.
I only made two changes to the code.. the one mentioned above and one minimal change to the footer. All other changes are CSS changes that I did via the Quick CSS area. Deleting my CSS for testing purposes did not help. The secondary menu seems to be working fine in both cases.
I will try with a new completely unmodified version though…
Thank…
September 10, 2014 at 7:04 am #316321Hi!
Looks like the switcher is not rendering other languages except for the active language. You might need to use the theme’s default language flags for now until we find the problem. We’ll give you an update.

Thanks for the update. Is it possible to modify the language flags. I couldn’t find them in the images folder.
Best regards
September 10, 2014 at 4:47 pm #316735Hi!
We use the default WPML flags. You can find them in wp-content/plugins/sitepress-multilingual-cms/res/flags/
Cheers!
PeterSeptember 11, 2014 at 2:01 pm #317367Hi Peter, Hi Ismael,
any solutions for turning the flags into a dropdown?
Kind regards
September 11, 2014 at 2:03 pm #317372Hi!
The WPML plugin should add the language dropdown to the menu if you tick the “Display the language switcher in the WP Menu” option and select the main menu (or secondary menu) in the dropdown: http://www.clipular.com/c/5697699709976576.png?k=tR7hiYan-r1Pht6Rl__rwYgcx8k

YigitSeptember 12, 2014 at 1:48 pm #318082I have the same problem since I updated to latest version of Enfold. I used to have a language dropdown. This is now gone. None of the settings I change seem to do anything.
Perhaps I should go back to a previous version of Enfold as well, but I remember the layout builder did not work anymore, so I was forced to update.
I’ve already opened a ticket at WPML support, but I honestly think it may have something to do with Enfold, especially since I’m not the only one here. This is my site: http://goo.gl/tcf1o5
EDIT: Oh and Yigit, my settings are as follows:
– Language Switcher in the WP menu is set to Display the language switcher in the WP Menu [Top menu]
– Language Switcher options is set to Drop-down menu [Mobile friendly for mobile agents only]
– What to include in the language switcher is set to Native language nameI’ve also disabled all other plugins than WPML and it still didn’t work. I’ve change settings like “Mobile friendly …” to “Classic” and so on, nothing changes. I’ve changed no PHP or CSS since theme update, whatsoever.

September 12, 2014 at 4:49 pm #318193@Yigit : I have set it correctly, as before when it worked, but since the update it doesn’t work anymore…
@DavyE : I have the same problem like you, as described in my post above. But I am sure that it has something to do with Enfold and not WPML, since I’m using WPML in combination with several other Themes and they are working properly.Hope for a working solution soon
Thanks in advance

September 12, 2014 at 6:03 pm #318234I’m not sure why, but for some reason I could fix it by going to:
Display the language switcher in the WP Menu and change the selected menu to –select–. That’s right, no menu selected. It then appeared correctly again in my top menu, BUT also in my main menu. To temporarily fix this I have just added this to my CSS:
#header_main .menu-item-language {display:none;}Maybe you can try that? Hopefully that’ll help you too while waiting for a better fix.
September 13, 2014 at 10:38 am #318446Hey!
Thanks for the update DavyE. I’ll ask Kriesi to look into it.

PeterSeptember 13, 2014 at 3:30 pm #318535@DavyE: Thanks a lot, that seems to be a good temporary solution! :D
