Enfold quick CSS isn't responding

Im sure this is a simple problem that has popped up before but I am not seeing anything on it. I am attempting to add a simple bit of css to the entire site using the quick css box in the styling tab. Its easy h2 { color: green; } Ive tried changing other parts like the <p> and nothing is taking. I am not versed on child themes and that seems to be where the answers lie. If there is a simple tweak that would be excellent.

and I had to build the main pages using the default editor visual box using short code because the visual editor wasn’t showing me any text. Its there but it is white text on white BG….. any fix here yet?
