I created a page, then saved it as a template via the editor, and applied it to other pages. Is there a way to edit the template (one time) so it updates all the pages that use the template?

No unfortunately not. The template is saved as is upon saving and the pasted in to each page you insert it on. The actual template doesn’t ever change.
