How to create nested portfolios?

Hello people, I’d like to know if there’s a way to create nested portfolios.
Let me explain better.

I’d like to create a sort of structure with portfolio and sub-portfolio items.
I’d like to have Ajax portfolio on top, clicking on an item it sgould open another portfolio, the Masonry one.
I need the first, Ajax, to be a list of portfolios, because I’d like to have more than one portfolio, and the list should be visual with Ajax portfolio effect.

In reality, the first is not a real portfolio, but only a visual list.

Is there a way to perform this?
All I need is to create an image grid, with Ajax portfolio effect, and clicking on every image I should be able to open different portfolios.

It would be sufficient also to be able to personalize the image link target for Ajax portfolios, so I can specyfy the link to other portfolios.
