Hi,
i have some issues with my website.
http://www.oldmencrew.com1. The performance of the website is very low, loading sites takes pretty much time. i deactivated all unnecessary plugins and removed all unnecessary images, but it didn’t really help. any ideas?
2. I tried to remove the menu-point “Impressum” from the NAV but than an error appeared: “Catchable fatal error: Object of class WP_Error could not be converted to string in /customers/2/4/0/oldmencrew.com/httpd.www/wp-includes/formatting.php on line 584” any ideas how to solve the problem? does the error appear because of the theme?
I would be very glad for some help
June 26, 2014 at 1:35 am #283850Hi damian24!
Before anything else you should update your theme to the most recent version since your current version isn’t compatible with WordPress 3.9.
For a quick guide on updating your theme take a look at this video on updating the Enfold theme via FTP: https://vimeo.com/channels/aviathemes/67209750
As for performance you can try using a plugin like WP Super Cache or w3tc which are typically the best single step you can do to increase performance.
For the WordPress error, deactivate *all* plugins and then try doing the same thing again. If it still happens try switching to one of the default themes (twenty fourteen etc) and then try it again.
Best regards,

I updated the theme and tried to change the menu, it didn’t work. Than I switched to another theme and could make my changes and change back to enfold! One problem solved so far!I also installed and activated the W3tc Plugin but it isn’t a great help really. I measured the performance before and the site loaded in about 6 sec, now i’m at about 4.5 sec. So it is a little faster but in my opinion not enough. Any other suggestions?
June 26, 2014 at 2:36 pm #284081Hey!
You must decrease the image file sizes – i.e. this image has a file size of over 1.1mb: http://www.oldmencrew.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/starter-banner.png
I recommend a tool like: http://www.obviousidea.com/de/windows-software/light-image-resizer/ or http://www.smushit.com/ysmush.it/
