After changing a spelling mistake in my home page header – the entire home page (expect that text box) deleted – how is this possible? I naturally updated it already…
Please answer me ASAP, as I did not think I needed to back it up. Is there a history/back up feature?

WordPress does have a “history/backup” feature, try looking for Revisions:
