    Hey there,

    Most of my Entypo icons aren’t showing up in IE8, so I contacted the creator of Entypo and he explained that using the updated version of the font from Fontello.com would fix my problems. I’ve downloaded the new Entypo font, but I didn’t see the files within the theme files, so I’m guessing the theme is pulling the font in the code. How would I go about updating it to pull the new version?

    I would like to second this question from Tom. I’m having the same issue and want to see if I can add other icons from Fontello. Fontello lists Entypo as well as a few others. My CSS experience is beginner so any guidance would be appreciated. I’m using ENFOLD and you did a mind blowing job. Well done!!!!

    You can override the font files on wp-contentthemesenfoldconfig-templatebuilderavia-template-builderassetsfonts.

    Hey Ismael,

    Thanks for the response. I went ahead and downloaded the new font files from Fontello, named them the same as the corresponding files on the server, and replaced them. Unfortunately, after reloading my page, it seems all the icons are now very cartoon-y looking rather than the flat icons that should be appearing. This is strange because Fontello doesn’t even seem to have any cartoon-y fonts. Ideas?

    Hey Ismael,

    Unfortunately the cartoon-y look isn’t what I’m going for. Also, as you mentioned, it was missing many icons across all browsers. And most importantly, it didn’t fix anything in IE8.

    I don’t really know how that could have happened. I’ve tagged Kriesi on the questions as I’m not very familiar with working with the new font files but be sure you are using Enfold 2.0.1 and WordPress 3.6 in the mean time.

    Hey! Unfortunately its not possible to simply replace the font files at this point. The theme expects a different set of parameters than what fontello generates nowadays (they somehow changed their output scheme), thats why I need to rewrite the whole iconfont script once I get some time to spare.

    got no ETA buts its on the todo list ;)

    Just so you guys know, I think the big issue with Fontello is the encoding of the font files. I think a while back, Fontello switched its default from ASCII or Unicode to Private Use Area encoding — basically, the section of the Unicode range that intentionally has no characters assigned by default, so anyone can use it for their own thing without conflicts. My theory is Kriesi encoded his Entypo version as Unicode, and that’s the snag.

    The “cartoony icons” are OS X’s (maybe others too) default emojis, because the PUA encoding of the font in this case means there is no “font override” going on for those Unicode characters, like there is when you encode as Unicode.

    Unless I made a very stupid mistake and mixed up the files, I removed the Enfold default icon fonts, tried replacing them with PUA and ASCII encoding, just to experiment (didn’t work), then made a new Unicode-encoded file, and the icons were restored. So, just be sure to click that wrench icon next to the download button on Fontello, scroll down to “Set Encoding,” and select Unicode, and that should fix it.

    Mayorninja seems to be correct about switching over to the Unicode encoding putting it back to the original style. Unfortunately, the newly downloaded font with Unicode encoding still has the same issues as the previous version and does not display in IE8.

    So basically it sounds like we’re currently stuck with an unusable set of icons in IE8? Is there a way I can at least switch out the Search icon with an image to get it to display?

    Hi Tom,

    The search icon should still work in IE8. It does on my live install, my personal site and the past dozen or so client sites I’ve built with Enfold. All tested with native IE8, Enfold 2.0.1 and WordPress 3.6.

    Hi, how do I actually use the entypo font? If I look at theme font style and the demo font style they aren’t exactly the same. Any help would be great. If I go to the styling section in Enfold I don’t see entypo in the list of available fonts.

    Hey,

    The fontello font is use to create almost all of the icons on the theme like Iconbox, Iconlist etc. Where exactly do you want to use them? You can refer to this link http://www.entypo.com/characters/.
