Hi,
After I have updated the theme, my footer is changed/reset to default.
This happens every time I update the theme. Why is it doing that? It is a bit annoying to remember to change to footer after ach update and it also takes some time.

Do you mean Footer options in Enfold theme options or Footer widgets? How do you update the theme?

It is in Footer Widgets. It does not change the number of coloums, colours or other settings from the footer options in Enfold theme options.
If I have setup my footer and draged the items into the column 1, column 2 etc. that I want and I update the Enfold theme the footer items/content in the columnns has changed. E.g. I have have placed a ‘advertise area’ in column 2 with my own images this has changes to a ‘tag cloud’ after a theme update. Both in frontend and backend. So I need to do the footer once again.
I update the theme with the build in updater i WordPress.

Can you provide admin credentials here as a private reply so we can log in and take a look. I’ve never heard of that happening so its definitely something we would like to check in to.

One possible reason could be that a plugin tries to register widget areas during the update process. Basically the issue is caused by the widget area ids (which may change if the number of widgets areas changes during the update process) and then you need to reconfigure the widget areas. You can use the “Inactive Widget” section to temporarily store the widgets and to rearrange them before/after you update the theme.
If you want to avoid that the widget area ids are affected by the update try to use ftp: https://vimeo.com/channels/aviathemes/67209750 to upload the new theme files. Afaik wordpress won’t load any php code during the ftp update and the widget area order and ids shouldn’t change too.
Best regards,
Peter -
