Hi,
Since WordPress 4.0-alpha-20140507 update last night I can’t access the back end theme options (only shows the first list, the column on the left and the “show all options” are not displayed/do not work). The advanced layout editor no longer works, it either gets stuck with the loading icon on pages that have it switched on or nothing happens at all when trying to enable it in new pages.
I’ve found this regarding wordpress auto-updates http://wordpress.org/support/topic/live-site-automatically-updated-to-an-alpha-version
TIA
Nathan
Hi,
I’ve found a fix for this, apologies in advance if I wasted your time.
For others looking for a really simple fix – just change the wp_version in /wp-includes/version.php from 4.0-alpha to 3.9 then save (after backing your site up of course).
Then go to wordpress update and manually update to 3.9.1.
All working fine now, thanks!

Hi!
Glad you got it working! As an aside we never support Alpha, Beta or even RC builds of WordPress so if you are relying on things to work without issue we wouldn’t recommend running with anything other than live versions of WordPress :)
Best regards,
Devin
