I have added my login and purchase code to the auto theme updater however it does not recognise that there is a new theme to install?

Is this a bug or do I just have to wait for a while?

When I click : Check manually, it says I am up to date.

If I want to update fully manually do I just un-install and reinstall the new theme?
Will all my settings remain the same or will I have to save my custom CSS updates and reinstall them after I have updated the theme?

(I know I should be creating a child them but I’m not sure how one goes about that)

    Hi Jamie A!

What theme version do you currently have?

Check this video on how to set up a child theme:

Thanks a million for the tutorial.

I am using version 2.7 however I received an email saying there was a new version on the 5th of May.

However my wordpress is not recognising that there is a new version to download?

    Hey!

Yes, currently Enfold 2.7.1 is available. You can update the theme manually via FTP – http://vimeo.com/67209750 . The theme uses the ThemeForest update script which does a check every 12 hours. If you are inside that window you wouldn’t yet see the option to update from within WordPress.

No i was looking in the ENFOLD tab in WordPress dashboard. At the bottom left hand side there is a tab that says THEME UPDATE
(Update your Theme from the WordPress Dashboard)

However when I click on the – CHECK MANUALLY it still does not recognise there is a new theme to update?

I’m happy to update via FTP but just wanted to know why it was not recognising there was a new theme?

Any ideas. (its not a big deal)

    Hi!

You have to put your Themeforest API Key there, not the purchase code.

My version will not auto update also because I changed the name of the theme in the css file.

Is there a way to workaround that?

    Hey!

You would need to use a child theme with that name changed. Then the parent can update without issue.

Otherwise no, you will need to update manually.

    Cheers!

Can I just confirm the theme will only Auto-update if you have created a child theme?

    #305828

It will show that there is an update yes. It will never update without at least you clicking a button however :)

    #305851

Perfect thanks for that Devin, one last thing if I do create the child theme and then click ‘Update’ does that mean I will NOT have to update the theme via FTP.

If so we can mark this as resolved.

Thanks again for all the great support.

    Jamie
