Hello I would like to add a google custom search to the theme.
I would like to keep the fly out search tab. But add GCS into it.
I found a plugging to do this and have to add this code to function it.
if (function_exists(“wpCustomGoogleSearch”)) { wpCustomGoogleSearch(); }
Does anyone know where I can add this?
Thanks,
Mark
June 28, 2013 at 6:47 pm #127124Hi,
This is from the http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-custom-google-search/installation/ plugin.
Don’t use it. It is not compatible with WordPress 3.52 and throws lots of nasty warnings the moment it is activated. Find something else.
Thanks,
Nick

July 1, 2013 at 8:07 am #127126Hi,
If you can add the Google search functionality to the regular search box widget I will be able to tell you what’s needed to add it into the top search box once I see the code. There are multiple Google search plugins. Try them out till you get one working on the regular widget search, and then we will get it into the Ajax searchbox.
Thanks,
Nick

Ok I found a plugin called “Google Custom Search” by the people at littlehandytips.com
This plugin seems to be the most popular.
I setup my GCS and added to code within the plugging. Its currently in the widget.
As I mentioned I would like to add it to the fly out search.

Mark

Are you sure that search works? I seem to find any website on it but yours.
Thanks,

July 5, 2013 at 12:43 pm #127129Yes the search is correct. Im just testing tweaks on my other domain.
When I launch my site its actually going to be http://www.gtahomeinspector.com
July 5, 2013 at 3:02 pm #127130Ok I think I got it.
Followed the suggestion from DUDE in another post.
Using a plugging call Google CSE…
It utilizes google API’s and adds google search to theme seamlessly.
Do you have any issues with this plugin?
Cheers,
Mark
July 7, 2013 at 9:14 am #127131Hey!
Personally I didn’t test it but as long as it doesn’t break wordpress standards it should work with our theme.
Best regards,
Peter
August 6, 2013 at 2:57 am #127132Hi markbener,
did you get it to work? With me it doesn’t. It seems to work, but the results are all linking to search results (http://my-site.com/?s=randomsearch will display search results, but all the search results displayed link to the same url http://my-site.com/?s=randomsearch).
Did you change something in the theme code?
Thanks :)

August 7, 2013 at 7:26 am #127133Hey!
Maybe you need to check the plugin configuration. If the search still points to http://my-site.com/?s=randomsearch the plugin doesn’t seem to work at all. You can use this plugin to maximize the search power of your website: SearchWP
Refer to this link in order to integrate the plugin on ajax search: http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/use-searchwp-instead-of-the-standard-search/
