Hi All,
I’m trying to get the ‘blog’ section of a site up and running, but having some issues, specifically:
I’ve set up the blog layout to use a custom ‘builder’ page, which almost works. Issues:
– the full width slider header ONLY displays on the main page, not for single post pages or on the category page
– the categories page appears to have zero styling at all, just displaying full posts with no sidebar, no header and zero control over what is displayed – this is a killer for me.How do I resolve the two issues?
Links:
Main blog entry page: http://dev.rideforhopebahamas.com/news-media/ THIS IS OK
Single post page: http://dev.rideforhopebahamas.com/hello-world/ WHERE IS MY HEADER?
Category Page: http://dev.rideforhopebahamas.com/news/press-releases/ THIS IS TERRIBLE!!!!!

Thank you for using the support forum.
I’m sorry but at this moment, I’m not entirely certain of the issue based on the information you have given in your post. The pages look ok when I visit the link you provided. If you wouldn’t mind providing us with a little more clarification about the issue (a screenshot perhaps), we’ll be happy to provide you with a response once we have a better understanding of the problem.
Note that you can change the single post style on Enfold > Single Post Style. You can also override the settings for title, sidebar, footer and transparency on each posts.

IsmaelApril 9, 2014 at 6:28 am #249103Hi Ismael,
Not sure what else I can say!
This page (main blog landing point): http://dev.rideforhopebahamas.com/news-media/ has a full width layerslide at the top. This is correct, and how this page should be. I want ALL pages within the blog area to look like this – the same layerslide, the same sidebar, and the same text styles.
This page (single post) http://dev.rideforhopebahamas.com/hello-world/ has the sidebar, but there is no layerslide across the top.
Now this page (category): http://dev.rideforhopebahamas.com/news/press-releases/ has NO sidebar, NO image across the top, uses COMPLETELY DIFFERENT type styles, is strangely centered, and shows the whole posts of everything in the category, not the excerpt.
All the pages above use a single template ( a “page” with a media content element of ‘blog posts’ embedded), so they should all look the same. They don’t, and I need to know how to make them look the same.

April 9, 2014 at 6:38 am #249110OK, it appears the “Category’ page is actually called “Archive”, so I’ve resolved part of that issue.
I still would prefer just the excerpts, NOT the full posts, as this page will get incredibly large, very very quickly! Excerpts seem to be used everywhere but here, and I don’t know why.
I still need the layerslide to appear on the “archive” and single post pages. How do I make this happen?
Sorry for my questions – Still figuring out this system.
April 9, 2014 at 7:39 am #249130Hi!
1) Single posts do not support the LayerSlider. The LayerSlider is an advanced layout builder element and posts do not support the advanced layout builder. If you want to add a slideshow to the post you can use the “Magic wand” icon in the editor toolbar to embed a slideshow at the top but the you can’t add a “fullwidth” slideshow like the LayerSlider or the “Fullwidth EasySlider” to the posts (because these elements are just supported by the advanced layout builder).
2) Category page – if you want to add widgets to the category page sidebar go to Appearance > Widgets and add some widgets into the “Displayed Everywhere” or “Sidebar Blog” widget area. Note that the archive pages also don’t support the advanced layout builder – they’re generated dynamically by wordpress and use the archive.php template. You can’t add template builder elements to category/term pages.
3) If you don’t want to show the entire post on category pages please use the more quicktag: http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/ to separate the excerpt from the full post content. Alternatively you can use the “excerpt” field if you modify the theme code a bit – see: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/setting-blog-to-multi-author-big-preview-blog-with-title-excerpt-read-more/#post-221204
Cheers!
PeterApril 9, 2014 at 3:06 pm #249280Hi Peter,
OK, so there’s no way to have visual consistency throughout the site with this theme, and blog posts (or in my case ‘News & Media* have to look completely different to every other section?
If that’s the case, please confirm so I can move on to a more consistent theme.
Sad to do that, as I really like what you’ve built, but a website needs consistency – that’s pretty fundamental, so I can’t see any other option.

April 12, 2014 at 3:48 am #250423Hi!
Posts are posts and pages/portfolio items are pages. In WordPress those are two different things and it makes sense for them to have individual consistency to work within the realm of what those data types are.
On the category archives you’ll get a better look by actually adding featured images to your posts so that they have an image to display. You can also set the default page header to be visible so that they get the breadcrumbs/title from the themes Header tab in the theme options.
The default blog style can also be set to any of the blog feed styles from the theme options in the General Settings tab.
Best regards,
Devin -
