Hi,
I’m confused – maybe this question has been answered several times before – searched, but found no solution so far. So here it is:
– I would like to define a custom layout for the default (Archive) blog page. I would like to use the advanced editor to add a custom text element and then insert the blog template builder element to configure the blog posts.
The only modification that worked so far: in the Enfold Theme Options I could choose the Blog Style – but not the appearance of the whole page. Also when I choose something different then the grid layout the page shows always the complete text of the posts and not the excerpt.
And ideas?!
Thanks!
May 26, 2013 at 1:07 am #121243Hi,
Create a page, go Advance Layout Editor. Under Content Element > Insert the Blog Posts element. You can change the layout under “Blog Style”. Look for Blog Content length, choose Excerpt with Read more link.

May 26, 2013 at 8:38 am #121244Hi Ismael,
that’s easy – did that before – but how do I tell WP to use this page as the default blog layout – for example if I navigate using a category menu?
Cheers,
Detlef

like I wrote in the original post – I found the “Blog Style” option – but this will only change from list to grid, but it doesn’t offer the control of the complete page. For example I would like to have an icon box on top of the blog…

If you want full control over the archive page. Please edit archive.php.

May 27, 2013 at 5:34 am #121248Hi Ismael,
thanks a lot for your help – so there is no option to configure the layout – only coding the php template? If yes: this would be my No.1 wish for an update :)
Cheers,

No, archive pages do not support the template builder and you need to modify the archive.php file, etc. manually.

June 30, 2013 at 11:26 am #121250Above, I see you suggestion is to:
“Create a page, go Advance Layout Editor. Under Content Element > Insert the Blog Posts element. You can change the layout under “Blog Style”. Look for Blog Content length, choose Excerpt with Read more link.”
Unfortunately no matter which selection I choose it always stays at “full content” I never see the read more link. Please advise.
Thank you
July 1, 2013 at 4:29 am #121251Hi Jasmer,
The theme uses the_content instead of the_excerpt and you use the more tag to delineate the preview text from the full article. See: http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/
