My personal brand, corporate organization and reputation is all based on efficiency and excellence. My current site takes > 10 seconds to load. After using sites like Pingdom to track what is taking so long, I have noticed that the Custom CSS is delaying several seconds. I tried using the Smush.it plugin to reduce image sizes but that ruined some of the quality and aspect ratio of my images. Do you have any further suggestions on how to make this site (matt-morse.com) very light and easy to navigate with lightning fast speeds. Thank you!

    Hey mattmorse!

You can use this plugin to minify scripts and stylesheets: https://wordpress.org/plugins/bwp-minify/

I have that plugin activated but it is still slowed dramatically by custom CSS as you can see in Pingdom screenshot below.

    Hey!

That kind of assistance is beyond what we can offer through support. There are so many variables that can go into a sites speed and any one by itself will help but not solve it completely.

Compressing your images is typically the first and best thing to do followed by caching. Making sure your home page content isn’t too heavy on effect, slideshows, images and overall longer to load content is important as well.

The most important part is your server. A slow server or one on a shared hosting plan can have variable load times depending on the current server strain. In that regard there is no fix but with everything else there is room for improvement.

    Best regards,
    Devin
