    I am running WordPress 3.8. I have confirmed I am using the correct user name and API Key but the WordPress updater tells me there are no new updates avaiable.

    BUT when I check the CSS style sheet it tells me I am running version 2.1, when I know the latest version available is 2.4.

    Can you tell me why this method doesn’t work?

    Can you try updating the theme manually this time?
