Full width element – time sensitive.

I am using a plugin that generates a grid-style slider via a shortcode. I’d like this slider to span the full width of my page (as the layer slider does). Can you tell me what css rules I should apply. Should I put it in a container using the page builder or is it better to use the test editor.
