Really not happy right now. Have had no problems with this theme until now when suddenly 90% of my homepage just disappeared. I had the page almost finished, hit “update” and now all the work is gone. It shows 49 revisions. When I click on revisions, we are back to 11 – Enfold originals. I can’t find any of my work anywhere.
What is going on?
December 22, 2013 at 8:44 am #203015Hi esavvides,
What version of the theme and WordPress are you currently using? Do you have any other plugins running?
When you click on revisions do you not see any revisions besides the original page versions or are they all just the same?
Regards,
DevinDecember 22, 2013 at 5:36 pm #203066Using the latest version of the the theme and WP. I don’t know why but it’s just freaking out. Now it manage to duplicate everything on the page – it just cloned like 30 blocks. I am now saving the pages as templates every 30 mins. but this is not really how I want to do it. I only have a couple of plugins running like MyMail. It says “Revisions: 49” and when I click on Browse, it takes me to the Posts page. On the page building page, where it has Revisions below the page layout, everything is blank.
December 22, 2013 at 6:00 pm #203068What versions specifically? Can we see the site live?
If you can provide a temporary admin account and add it here as a private reply by checking the “Set as private reply” checkbox we can log in and take a look as well.
December 23, 2013 at 11:45 am #203243Seeing the site live won’t help as I just rebuilt everything. When you click on Revisions, I assume you’re supposed to see the actual revisions? All I get are 11 posts you guys made. I’ve just taken to saving the page as a template every 20-30 minutes.
December 23, 2013 at 12:25 pm #203246Hey!
Unfortunately this can happen if a database error occurs (i.e. if the data transmission fails and the data in the database is corrupt or if the server stops to write the data to the database because of the number of requests/procedures, etc.). I suggest to make a regular backup of the database every day (i.e. with tools like: http://wordpress.org/plugins/backupwordpress/ ) and then you can restore it if some data is corrupt.
Cheers!
PeterDecember 23, 2013 at 12:33 pm #203247Thanks Peter for the suggestion. It doesn’t look like this is a common problem so I didn’t think it was a theme issue, but it was very much affecting the theme. I’ll get the plugin for a db backup.
I’m on cheap hosting right now – sharing a server with multiple users. I plan to upgrade to a virtual server once I launch. Do you think this will also help avoid db issues?
thanks again
