Hi,
when changing to the Enfold theme I began to use WPML the first time. My aim was to really make things easier and since I want to offer at least three languages I hoped it would be an efficient way to handle everything smoothly.
However, so far I find it pretty complicated and every problem that appears needs hours of solving it. But well, I guess that’s normal with the first time ;) But what I don’t understand is this:
I have one original language and then I duplicate the pages and translate the text-blocks. This works more or less fine, but then, everytime I change the layout on the original page (for example change the size of a column, add a picture, something like that), I have to do it on every single translation????
that was exactly the reason, why I chose to use a commercial product, to get rid of this totally ridiculous work!
I just want to translate the text-blocks and thats it, the layout should be duplicated but now I fear that this is not possible, am I right?

The advanced layout builder uses shortcodes to build the layouts. If you change the layout on one page you also need to change the layout on the translated pages because the shortcodes are embedded like standard text into the post content. It’s not possible to synchronize the layouts in this case. You could save the templates but then you need to translate the content over and over again every time you restore the template for the translated version of the page.

I have to say that this sucks quite a lot. When I have five different languages that means five times the same work just to add a picture or change one. If your theme claims to be “WPML-ready”, you should also mention that it is “NOT layout-builder ready” :(
That’s really a pitty because a part from that I love your theme and the support is great so far. I hope you will think about this issue in future updates.

The template builder is WPML ready because you can create templates for all languages and the template builder also reflects the different languages (translated text string, etc.). Imo it would only be incompatible (not “WPML ready”) if you can just use it with one language and not with the translated version of your website. If we come across a simple solution for managing all shortcodes with a centralized method we’ll implement it but I think that such a solution doesn’t exist yet.
