This may be a nob question.
But I thought I read somewhere that the enfold theme now auto updates itself.
If this is true then does this still happen even if I am running a child theme? Just wondering if this only works with the parent being activated or it works without it being activated and running on a child as well?

I think I got this.
In the settins, update settings, add the theme forest credentials.
I did this and it showed the update but I had to manually click it to update.

Yes, you will always need to manually update the theme from that section in the theme options. We may do something with the auto updates when they come out with WordPress 3.7 or 3.8 but no plans as of yet.
Doing it in a child theme will only update the parent as well.

@subevent which version of Enfold are you using? That option was added with Enfold version 2.0. If you have older, you should go to your ThemeForest profile and go to Downloads and download new version. Only after that you will see this tab http://i.imgur.com/wzsJvzE.jpgRegards,

Updating via FTP would be the best way in my opinion.

Now I´m updated and all is well…except that the slider shows a red message instead of the slider.Layerslider: Old jQuery issue
It looks like you are using an old version (1.10.2) of the jQuery library. LayerSlider requires at least version 1.7.0 or newer. If you are using the WordPress version of LayerSlider, you can try out the “jQuery Updater” plugin from the WP plugin depository. If you don’t know what to do, you can write us a private message from our CodeCanyon profile page. We need a temporary WP admin account (or a temporary FTP account in some cases) to solve this issue.any suggestions?

Ok…I deactivated all active plugins, and now the layerslider are up and running again… :) So that worked super!

YigitMy Theme update says I’m up-to-date, but I know there’s a 2.4 and I have 2.2
I’m wary about manual install…if I’ve made a few minot changes via the editor (I think just to Functions.php) is that the only thing that will be overwritten?
(And out of curiousity, the backlog of page backups, does that get lost w an update?)

The theme update is from within the Enfold theme options at the very bottom.
You should backup your functions.php before updating however since that file will be written over.

DevinDevin, I’m aware of that. Sorry if I was not clear. My point is that in that tab, it says I’m up to date. Which I’m obviously not. Not sure why it’s not seeing that there is a new update.
Secondly, when I tried a manual install, it gave an error that the enfold folder already existed.
-LeifIf it isn’t registering my only guess would be that the data isn’t correct. You might want to double check the api key/user name.
The error you are getting just means your installation isn’t allowing you to write over the folder. You can either change the permissions on your wp-content>themes folders to allow for it, ask your hosting provider to assist you in doing that or just upload via FTP instead.
