Hi,
The social badges in the header don’t seem to work in IE8. The bar just shows blank. Any idea what is not working?
Many thanks,
JonathanOctober 2, 2013 at 2:24 pm #169332Hi Jonathan!
Are you using version 2.3.1? There have been issues with users local cache not being refreshed and it causing the icon fonts not to show and the 2.3.1 update had a fix to help with that.
You can also try completely clearing your local cache for the site and see if that helps refresh the icon font files to show them properly.

DevinOctober 2, 2013 at 8:51 pm #169533Hi Devin,
It’s only in IE8. I haven’t updated yet but I will do so in the coming days and see if that helps.
Many thanks,
JonathanOctober 2, 2013 at 9:31 pm #169545Update and see if that helps first. Make sure it also clear your IE cache before and after updating.
October 3, 2013 at 4:28 am #169740Hi Devin,
The update doesn’t fix this unfortunately – the icons still don’t show on IE8. Fine on every other browser though I believe. Is this a theme issue that they just aren’t supported on IE8?

YigitOctober 6, 2013 at 9:16 pm #171308Thats really weird, I’ve seen it on two computers and they don’t show! =(

See http://www.schiering.com – I just moved my site from playground to live.

October 8, 2013 at 10:09 pm #172735Hello!
Can you try the steps I just posted here: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/icons-still-not-working-in-firefox-and-ie/#post-172730
There is something odd going on with IE under certain circumstances and we are trying to narrow it down to a specific case to find a fix.

DevinOctober 8, 2013 at 11:07 pm #172751Sorry but won’t be able to look at this until later in the week. I will be back soon! Please keep this open and thank you for the help.
October 9, 2013 at 4:36 am #172854Hey!
I find a temporary solution for the social icons. You can edit header.php, find this code:
if(strpos($headerS,'bottom_nav_header') === false) avia_social_media_icons($social_args);
Get the actual html code of the social icons using the Google Chromes Inspect element. I get yours, you can use it to replace the code above:
?> <ul class="noLightbox social_bookmarks icon_count_5"><li class="social_bookmarks_facebook social_icon_1"><a target="_blank" href="http://facebook.com/schiering" aria-hidden="true" data-av_icon="" data-av_iconfont="entypo-fontello"></a></li><li class="social_bookmarks_twitter social_icon_2"><a target="_blank" href="http://twitter.com/ralf_schiering" aria-hidden="true" data-av_icon="" data-av_iconfont="entypo-fontello"></a></li><li class="social_bookmarks_xing social_icon_3"><a target="_blank" href="https://www.xing.com/profiles/Ralf_Schiering" aria-hidden="true" data-av_icon="" data-av_iconfont="entypo-fontello"></a></li><li class="social_bookmarks_linkedin social_icon_4"><a target="_blank" href="http://de.linkedin.com/in/ralfschiering" aria-hidden="true" data-av_icon="" data-av_iconfont="entypo-fontello"></a></li><li class="social_bookmarks_rss social_icon_5"><a href="http://www.schiering.com/feed" aria-hidden="true" data-av_icon="" data-av_iconfont="entypo-fontello"></a></li></ul> <?php
The social icons will now render properly on IE8.

IsmaelOctober 9, 2013 at 4:34 pm #173102Hello!
Would you guys mind posting us the login data to your wordpress installations, as well as to your ftp server here? Before pressing the “submit” button make sure that you have checked the “Set as private reply”checkbox so the information is kept private and not visible to other forum users.
I will then do some quick try and error tests and see if I can fix the issue :)

KriesiOctober 10, 2013 at 9:55 pm #173829Hi, just checking to see if this was looked into further?
Kriesi, I’d rather not provide access to our server if avoidable – nothing personal, just a comfort thing. I hope your understand. Is there another option?

JonathanOctober 11, 2013 at 5:01 am #173968Hi!
I have the same issue on IE8 in my Enfold installation locally and for the life of me can’t figure out a way to fix it. The temporary fix I gave you worked somehow. Have you tried the temporary fix above? Kriesi needs to do some testing on your site to fix the issue. You can check “Set as private reply”. You can also send the login details via email. You can email it to ///. Include the word “Kriesi” on the subject. Add the link of this thread on your email. I will forward it to him and test your site as well.
Cheers!
IsmaelOctober 11, 2013 at 11:43 pm #174406I haven’t tried yet, sorry it’s been a very busy week =)
I have someone writing an article on our company and it’s getting published any day now, so I don’t want to mess with the site too much. And I won’t be able to provide access to my server unfortunately, as I’m sure you can understand. If an easier fix comes out in the meantime please let me know, otherwise I hope to have a chance to revisit soon.

We’ll let you know if we fix the problem. For the mean time you can try the above solution.
