Hi there!
I’ve been trying to insert one page into my product descriptions as shortcode across all my products, rather than having the same information copy+pasted into each, saving time for when that info changes it’s only one place I need to update it, not 20+.
I’ve used Insert Theme Shortcode > Layout Elements > Custom Layout, and while it displays correctly when I preview a product (Custom Layout_Preview), once it’s published and on the live product, it throws all this other code ahead of it and removes all formatting (Custom Layout_Published).
The page being inserted via the shortcode is ALB, and is just a text box
How may I get it to display as it does in the preview, on the live published product page please?
I really appreciate any help you can give. Many thanks! :)

Thank you for the inquiry.
Have you tried switching to the Code editor mode before pasting the shortcode? Please check the screenshot below:

Thank you for your reply. I hadn’t, but I’ve just cut+pasted it from the visual to the code editor and it gives the same result
Is there anything else that can be done to get this feature working please?
Many thanks,
SarahAugust 12, 2025 at 3:45 am #1487867Hi,
Looks like you’re trying to use a custom layout shortcode. Unfortunately, the custom layout shortcode cannot be used in the product description tab. It only works on actual pages and posts.

I am, yes. Why is it an option to use in the product description then if it cannot be used in the product description tab please? Custom Layout – available in product description
Edit to add: it’s working correctly when previewing, but not when live so I would think it should be working?
Many thanks,
Sarah-

August 12, 2025 at 4:02 am #1487872Hi,
The shortcode wand is available in the default WYSIWYG editor, but not all shortcodes are applicable in every context — as in the case of the custom layout shortcode with the product description tab.
Could you please provide a screenshot of the live preview along with a link to a test page so we can take a closer look? We might also need login access to the site to properly check.
Best regards,

Ah, a touch annoying!
For sure, the screenshots are in my original post – https://kriesi.at/support/topic/custom-layout-shortcode-in-product-description-doesnt-work/#post-1487682
Test product page is: https://signosaur.com.au/product/x-banners-print-only-test/
Or if there’s some other custom code I can use in the code editor instead to achieve the same thing, I’m more than happy to do that way? :)
Many thanks,
SarahAugust 18, 2025 at 3:49 am #1488162Hi,
You may need to refrain from using the custom layout shortcode in the product description editor and instead build the content using other shortcodes from the Shortcode Wand.

Thank you for your reply, but none of those fix this issue with the theme. I need to insert a page into the product description so I have one source of truth across many products. This shortcode clearly works when previewing, but the theme throws issues when it is live.
As there doesn’t seem to be any support from Enfold devs on this, to get around this, for anyone who finds this thread in future (like I have with many other topics in this forum) and runs into the same issue – I have been able to do exactly what I want using the plugin “Insert Pages” by Paul Ryan.
