I am in the process of creating a bilingual website using WordPress with the Enfold theme. My goal is to have a stable and seamless setup that supports two languages. I need the backend to remain in English while providing front-end content in both languages.

From what I read, I’ve gathered that WPML is a popular choice among WordPress users for its robust features and compatibility with various themes and plugins, and that it might be the best option. However, I am curious to hear about your experiences, especially in contexts similar to mine. (I know there are also Polylang, TransaltePress and MiltilingualPress to name a few.)

    Could you share:

Your experiences with WPML or any other multilingual plugins while using the Enfold theme?
Any tips on ensuring stability and ease of operation in a bilingual setup?
Recommendations for or against specific plugins based on ease of use and support?

    Anything else?
    Appreciated.

(I know this has been asked before, but last time I was looking for this was quite a while ago.)

    Hey MORTULGAAH,

    Thank you for the inquiry.

The theme should support both WPML or Polylang, but we recommend going for WPML because it has its own configuration within the theme and better documentation. For more information on using WPML with Enfold, please refer to the links provided below:

Thahk you. Can I keep backend in English consistently and just work on separate languages?

Also, what version is OK? Will the base one be enough?

I am still one of the lucky ones who was able to buy a “real agency licence” a few years ago. Lifetime updates and an unlimited number of websites. – But that’s just a side note.
I’m perfectly happy, but I have to be honest and say that I don’t even use the options available in the extended licence. I usually translate myself, thanks to DeepL! Only if you want to use Woocommerc e, the extended licence is probably fully justified.

    – Yes you can have your dashboard totaly on your prefered Language ( that is set by your User settings from WordPress )
However, you must bear in mind that WPML has separate language sections for the Enfold options. So you may have to transfer the quick css settings from your default language to the translations in order to synchronise them. This is inconvenient, but can also be an advantage. An English menu, for example, can take up less space than a German one. Then it will be necessary to set the Hamburg breakpoint differently, etc. pp

    Wow. :-)
I see there is an optionin Enfold to sync the two Lang options together.

As for versions – advanced options are just for external and auto translation? Nothing else? I intend to translate myself, too.

    Thanks for commenting.

    Hi,
Glad Guenni007 could help, thank you Guenni007, I don’t have experience with WPML but it is the most popular choice, unless you have further questions, shall we close this thread then?

    Best regards,
    Mike
