    Hi

    Please can you help. I get the following message when I try to edit a page or create a new one. This message also comes up when I go into the Enfold Theme settings

    Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 178257920) (tried to allocate 40960 bytes) in /services/webpages/c/i/cifial.co.uk/public/uk/wp-includes/class-wpdb.php on line 2425

    Checked with my hosing service and they confirm that the memory is 256MB and I am using PHP 7.4.

    Both my WordPress and Enfold Theme files are up to date.

    Have tried de-activating plug-ins and re-installing the Theme from Zip file but error persisits.

    You can view the Website perfectly fine and is functioning correctly, just cannot amend/edit/create pages.

    Any assistance would be great.

    Hey cifialuk,

    If your installation is out of memory, then it needs more. Try to increase it to 512 for example: https://developer.wordpress.org/apis/wp-config-php/. Or try to remove things that would consume memory, like plugins which you might not need.

    Many thanks for replying

    Have increased memory to 512 as suggested but error still appears in the Page attrbutes section when editing/creating a page.

    I don’t get the message when creating a post though.

    My website hosts are not being very helpful, only insisting that the error is with the theme?

    Can you suggest anthing else? I am a bit stuck to be honest

    Hi,

    It’s not a theme problem, the message is only saying that your site is out of memory at a certain action. You can check how much memory is actually allocated on your site by going to Tools->Site Health->Info->Server. If it’s not 512mb there, then please reach out to your hosting provider to get it increased, or try removing things that would consume memory like I suggested above.

    I have not added much to the site in the last month that would cause the memory required to be doubled?

    something is wrong somewhere…..

    i am now paying money for support from you and also the same for suport from them… and you are just blaming each other at this point……..
    where actually is my support?

    We apologize for the inconvenience. You may need to enable the error logs and switch the installation to debug mode so that we can properly trace the errors. Please check the documentation below for more info.

    In the meantime, please ask your hosting provider to upgrade PHP to 8.x or later versions.
