Hi, our servers are going to upgrade to MySQL 8. Before the upgrade I wanted to check on the compatibility of the theme and make sure the theme is compatible with this version. Is the theme compatible with that MySQL version or are there any potential issues to upgrade? Thanks!

    Hey CodeSamurai,
Thank you for your question, are you sure that you mean MySQL 8 and not PHP 8?
on my server I’m using MySQL Version 10.5.17-MariaDB-cll-lve
so MySQL 8 seems behind, most questions are about their servers are going to PHP 8 which works fine with Enfold v5.6.5+
I assume MySQL 8 would also work fine.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,

Yes, it’s for MySQL 8.0, not PHP 8.0. It’s for WP Engine and here is an article discussing their upgrade: https://wpengine.com/support/mysql-8/?_hsmi=271282644.

You listed using Maria. Is Maria using a different version than normal MySQL, hence the difference in version numbers? From my understanding MySQL is only at 8.0 at the moment. This version was released a while ago so I assume the theme will work, but I wanted to be sure since WP Engine is updating all its servers and I have a lot of customers using Enfold.

    Hi,
Thanks for the feedback, I have not seen any issues with MySQL from other users, typically if WordPress has no issues with the database then Enfold would not as Enfold only stores info in the database though WordPress, but I have asked the rest of the team if they are using MySQL 8.0 currently. I will reply when I hear back from the rest of the team.
Perhaps the best way to test is to setup a staging site with MySQL 8.0, unfortunately my server only offers Maria.

    Best regards,
    Mike
