Hello, we use a Blog Posts element to display a list of events on our site from a custom taxonomy (Tribe Events Cat), sorted by date. This has worked well previously. The dates used for the item sort order (and displayed with event) were the actual event dates, not the publication dates (as with a normal blog post), just as you would want.

However, since the TEC 6.0 update, it seems this optimization has broken, and the events are now being shown by “publication” date instead.

The page in question on our site is: https://www.cascadehorseshows.com/shows/ Those dates in December 2021 are the dates the events were created. The actual events began in June 2022.

Is there any way you can investigate this?

    Thank you!

Edit: we have a bit of JavaScript on the page to inject an end date for each event… only the start date is normally displayed by the Blog Post element. (It would be a cool feature addition to add an option to also display the end date for a custom event taxonomy like this…)

Quick update: We could not leave the page in a broken state any longer, so we temporarily “fixed” the issue with JavaScript. If you view the page I previously linked, the dates have been corrected, but the problem remains.

Also, we are running the latest Enfold release, 5.2.1 at the time of this posting.

    Hi garyvot,

Thanks for contacting us and sorry for the late reply!

Event publish dates were replaced with the actual even dates when I downgraded to The Events Calendar 5.16.4 and The Events Calendar Pro 5.14.5 on Enfold 5.2.1. This confirms that change was made in TEC.

I will report the issue to our devs but could you also contact TEC team and forward your request to them because I think this should be fixed in TEC? :)

    Best regards,
    Yigit

    Hi there,
I confirm that following the last updates of the event management plugin, some problems have appeared.

We have a date format problem because the month and the day are reversed between the settings in the administration space and the front-end.

Example: an event of December 10th will be displayed for October 12th on the visitor side.

Another problem is that the countdown module does not seem to work anymore. I have more than ten events to come, the categories are well selected (in the block settings), but the countdown does not appear. This is not very acceptable to my client (a large music company).

I hope that this will help you identifying the issues and implementing a fix.

    Best regards.

Hi Yigit, thank you for looking into this.

Re. contacting TEC: we are just using the free version of the plug-in with the built-in integration provided by Enfold. We don’t have a direct support relationship with them.

You will see if you investigate ../enfold/config-events-calendar/ in a standard Enfold installation that there is quite a bit of custom integration and theming for TEC provided by Enfold. This is used specifically in the Enfold Church Demo (on which our site is based). I made the assumption that the behavior we are relying on here was a custom optimization for the tribe-events custom taxonomy provided by Enfold (to support displaying events in the Blog Posts element).

Hopefully, your developers will be able to restore this behavior, or, if they have a relationship with TEC, they may be able to reach out to them to see if a fix could be worked out on their end… Thanks in advance!

    Best,

    Gary
